Officer: “Occupation?”
Me: “Well, that’s not the sort of thing that looks good on a form.”
After a stern look, I told him I was “in the service business.”
It took him a while, but he got there eventually.
He’s checking my credentials. I told him they’d check out, but he has to be careful as there are a lot of amateurs about and he needed a pro-job. That’s why he was making sure I was on the department’s official list of “service providers”.
