Cheeky Parade Disbanding

In a shocking turn of events, Cheeky Parade will be Idol Street’s second group to disband this year. On July 31st, Cheeky Parade will go their separate ways.

A reason for disbanding was not given, but all the members have written about going their separate ways to follow their own dreams.

The 7 members of Cheeky Parade, including the 2 currently on hiatus in LA, will all participate in their final live, the details of which will be announced later.

Hi anon! Yeah I’m honestly not too sure what’s going on. But then again, I’m not super shocked by this announcement, so maybe my theories are correct what with declining sales, declining popularity etc. I mean, Cheeky Parade has been around since 2011 but they don’t really have a “star” member (like Maaya in GEM or Nana in Supaga), or a specific concept (unlike Wa-suta). I mean yes, they’ve had lots of success!! But as the idol industry gets more and more oversaturated, I think it’s harder for veteran groups like Cheeky Parade and Super Girls to stay relevant when faced with all of these younger, more energetic, and more talented groups coming into the market. Plus I think people’s standards are way higher than they used to be for idols: the dancing needs to be synchronized and complicated, the vocals need to be live and stable, the visuals need to be perfect etc. In fact, I might even say that the image of the traditional “idol” is seriously on the decline, hence the overall decline of iDOL Street. I’m guessing Avex probably wants to move towards more “serious” and profitable performance groups (like E-Girls). Maybe this is the case.Thank YOU for the kind words!
