One of my favorite folk songs is Child 100, commonly known as Willie of Winsbury. It's about a king who comes home from being a prisoner of war in Spain to find his daughter pregnant and he's like "I'll kill the bastard, guards, seize this Willie of Winsbury and bring him before me!" And so they do and then the king is like "damn, alright, I didn't know you were smoking hot, just marry my daughter and we're cool, sound good?"
Like, the dude goes from "I'll kill him" to saying some of the gayest shit lol I love it like check this out
And Willie of the Winsbury
All dressed out in red silk
His hair hung like the strands of gold
His breast was white as milk
"No wonder, no wonder, " the king he said
"That my daughter's love you did win
If I were a woman as I am a man
In my own bed you would have been
And will you marry my daughter Jane
By the faith of your right hand?
And I'll make you the lord of my serving men
I'll make you the heir to my land"
