So the story originally was that Allen had met Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche on the streets of NYC in 1970, vying for the same cab as Allen was rushing his father to the hospital. Famously Allen asks if he can share his vehicle (accidental Buddhist pun... ) Years later this photo surfaced in Allen's collection that Gary Snyder'd snapped in 1962, who after some discussion determined it was in fact Chogyam Trungpa back then as well. "Vidyadhara" here is a title often given to Trungpa Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, head of young Lama's house school showing text (Book of Dead? Tummo Yoga?) to Peter Orlovsky, Allen Ginsberg watching on, we toured school (friends of Freda Bedi, Sister Palmo, with whom Peter later worked) & Zen student Poet Gary Snyder with us, snapped this photo, probably march 1962, for the Sawang Osel Rangdrol Mukpo, eldest son of the Vidyadhara.
