An evolution, and A trade
“So~” Blue began, her voice as flirtatious as ever; Even around Silver she couldn’t quite turn off that mischievous tone. Her legs dangled over the edge of the Great Crater of Paldea, allowing both of their Finizens to play on a ledge below them, hoping one - or both of them - would soon evolve.
“Has it been nice to get away from the Kanto-Johto continent for a bit, Silver?” She asks, looking at him with her deep blue eyes. That was always how a Dexholder seemed to be named when color was relevant - after their eyes.
“... Everything except Mount Glaseado” He admits, unsure how to express his distaste for what was known as one of the Ten Great Sights of Paldea. Glaseado peak was something a lot of tourists would kill to get to - he’s certain at least one of the new Dexholders would at least wish to visit the point, but for Silver… it brings back bad memories. He looks back at Blue; his metallic eyes, usually cold, showing some vulnerability. It was hard not to be, they had been through the same thing.
Blue nods in understanding, a breeze blowing her black dress and hair slightly as she tucks a gloved hand behind her ear, looking down at their two Finizen playing. It sparked a thought in her mind. A thought she had considered before, but never directly asked. Their birth parents were different, as far as she knew, but the situation from their childhood… the situation where Pryce had forced them to pair together and grow together. It finally leads her to asking.
“Silver,” she starts, looking down to the rocky ledge so that Silver’s eyes also fall upon the two Pokémon.
“Given everything with… Pryce.” It’s hard to get the name out, throat still struggling when reminded of that detestable gym leader. “Do you see us more as… friends, like those Finizen, or… more as siblings?”
Silver’s taken aback for a moment at being asked the question - not because he wasn’t certain, but because he thought it never needed asked.
“Siblings, obviously.” He admits, face growing red from embarrassment at his own vulnerability. He doesn’t usually feel so ashamed to be less closed off around Blue, but acknowledging they viewed each other as siblings aloud felt different.
“I see us the same way!~” Blue chirped, hopping down from their ledge onto the rocky platform below to check on the Finizen’s progress - neither had become a Palafin yet, despite their Ultimate Dexholder titles. Silver was the expert Trader and Blue was the expert Evolutionist, so what was taking so long? Green had already proved it wasn’t through level-up, and Crystal had managed to catch every Paldea Pokémon without needing to trade Pokémon whatsoever - only items.
Silver looked at the only piece of advice he had received from a mysterious bystander.
“Finizen’s evolution holds some kind of secret. That’s all we’ve been told.” He stands up, looking over Area Zero, and how low down it seems to be.
“And we know we’re not permitted into the crater. It’s too low down and Bird Pokémon just fish us out. That’s no good for you to experience.” He recounts. He knows Blue’s trigger relating to bird-like Pokémon thanks to their experience with Fearow handing them to Pryce.
That’s why Blue had used her Blastoise like a jetpack and her Jigglypuff as her main mode of flight. He hops down, wondering exactly what went wrong with their attempts. Trading the Finizen between each other didn’t help it evolve, having it hold the items Crystal had given them hadn’t had any effect. The two were becoming frustrated.
That’s when Blue gained a suggestive glint in her eyes. One that the other Kanto dexholders would likely fear - luckily Silver knew how Blue was, and didn’t need to be as wary - She was his sister, after all.
“Oh Siiiiilllvvveeeerrrrrr~” She drew out, leaning forward despite the lack of stable footing, index finger to her chin, just below her lip.
“Perhaps that means we need to reveal our secrets for it to evolve. Got anything to tell big sis Blue?” she teases, intentionally trying to get the redhead flustered.
Upon that, his face turns as red as his hair and he starts sputtering a mangled mess of gibberish noises before finally getting out his response.
“N–No! I’ve got no secrets that you’d need to know.” he states, crossing his arms and taking a step backwards. It seems despite his response, he knows all too well the secret Blue’s referring to.
Blue continues her antics, leaning forward more, the kind of angle you’d expect in a romcom anime from the main love interest trying to make sure the guy can’t respond coherently for the next ten minutes. She reaches into her satchel and pulls out a small book - Silver’s journal.
“Because this little entry tells me you’ve never kissed a girl before, and wanting to save your practising for Big Sis.~” She waves the book out of his reach as she goes a little red herself. She knows how to tease, but the thought of kissing her brother has her a little flustered, too.
Silver’s not wanting to admit it, reaching out to grab his journal back.
“Wh- Why do you–?” Have that, he wants to say - but as he reaches for the journal, he notices he’s pushing Blue closer and closer to the edge of the rocks, and stops himself. The shock from nearly pushing his sister into Area Zero gives him enough time to compose and consider the plan - reveal a secret, and Finizen might evolve.
“... I’ve never kissed anyone before. The entry says.” He clarifies, he doesn’t know whether he’ll want to be with a guy, a girl - or Blue herself - he just knows who he wants to save practise for. Gold was reckless and a pain, but he didn’t mind Gold. Crystal was one of his best friends. Yellow was soft, cute, and while easily sensitive he admired that about her. Red was like Gold in some senses, but less of an annoyance, and that could be bearable. Green was like a mentor and idol… and then there was Blue - his sister. The girl who helped him escape an abusive household. The girl who encouraged him to forge his own path. The girl who prevented him being turned into the authorities. The girl he wanted to give his first kiss to.
“But I would like to practise with you, some day.” He adds the some day as a way to give himself some time - some composure.
Blue immediately cuts that time short.
“How about we practise now?~ Might make the little Finizen pals evolve?~” She giggles, already bringing him into a close embrace by hugging him - and for a moment, her mischievous attitude and the suggestive glint in her eyes fade - all that’s left is sincerity and genuine want. It seems Blue was as longing for a kiss like this as Silver had been. She can’t deny herself the truth. She views Silver as her brother, and she loves her brother. She wants to help him through life where possible - whether that’s keeping him safe, brushing his hair, sewing him clothes, or teaching him how to kiss.
Silver’s shocked by the sudden grasp, ready to try and escape - he wriggles for a few moments, but upon seeing Blue’s eyes - desperate to help him learn - he concedes, hugging her back. He allows himself to be drawn into the embrace, but they aren’t kissing yet. He doesn’t exactly know how, or what to do. He knows lips press together, but that’s as far as he’s gotten.
“Just… let me know how to do this.” He requests, nervously, for once his composure is completely lost and he’s back to how he first acted when they were wearing the masks of ice - shaking and uncertain.
“And don’t tell the other Dexholders.”
Blue nods.
“Of course, Silvy~” As she leans in and prepares to instruct Silver on how to kiss, a stray Iron Valiant blade from Area Zero flies out from the crater, knocking Blue backwards - and she begins to fall. Silver’s frozen in shock for a moment - if Blue falls into Area Zero, a bird Pokémon grabs her. The idea of Blue reliving that trauma flooding his mind has time slow down, he can’t let his sister become hurt again.
In a split second, he thinks on what to do, pointing toward both Finizen.
“You’ve both seen Blasty fly, jump into the crater beneath her, use Hydro Pump on the whatever that thing was, and bring my sister back to the crater’s edge!” Silver commands, the two Dolphin Pokémon diving beneath the clouds of the region’s most dangerous area.
He holds his breath as he sees his sister’s descent shortly follow beneath the layer of cloud - and breathes a huge sigh of relief as two Pokémon return with Blue in their fins. Not Finizen, but the hero mode of Palafin - the heart on their chest and superhero-like stance as they land and lower Blue back to a safer area of the crater with much more fitting proves that it took both Blue and Silver to make them evolve - and some form of level-up.
Silver has his newly acquired Palafin move him over to the same rock, smiling slightly as he looks over Blue.
“... I’m glad it wasn’t a bird Pokémon bringing you back.” He exclaims gently, shaking his head from the fear that had shot through his veins moments prior.
“And I’m glad you’re safe.”
Blue seems to be recovering from her own shock with the way she giggles, nodding as she looks up toward her brother.
“And you managed to help evolve the Finizen… you’re so talented, Lil’ bro…” she composes herself, and while she’s not perfectly recovered from the scare just yet, she does make a little joke to lighten the mood.
“So… How about your kissing practise?~”
Not gonna lie, though, I am a die-hard fan of ChosenShipping. Yes, they have a sibling-like friendship, but you know what? Feelings can also change over time when they get older, too. I honestly believe that these two are soulmates, because nobody can understand them as well as each other.
The only other pairings I really think would work for them are SpecialJewelShipping (Silver x Crystal) and LuckyShipping (Red x Blue) and personally, I am not even a LuckyShipper and I still think they would work.
But ChosenShipping here is my OTP, because I strongly feel that they are perfect together, and would be very happy to be with each other.
