It had been something that had gotten him by for most of his life. His men thought him cold, hard to talk to, defensive. And in ways he was. He had to be. War was about logic, killing. Not feeling. Someone had to be the one to make sacrifices. He was more than ready to volunteer. So why, unlike the rest of his men who knew when to leave well enough alone, was this idiot trying to be his... friend? Was he dumb maybe? No, he was brash and maybe even a bit loud, but he didn't seem stupid.
"Just one smile Cid, and then I'll leave ya be. I just want to know if yer capable."
His captain's hands were resting on his desk as he hovered, leaning over and bothering him immensely while he was trying to work. He knew everyone was on leave, he didn't care. He wanted to use this chance to catch up on things he was behind on. But apparently none of that mattered to Rygdea.
That accent too, it grated on his nerves. Couldn't he just leave him alone with his work? No one understood him like his work did.
"Or I could just kick you the hell out of my office captain."
"Why are ya acting so formal. Call me Rygdea. One smile and then I'll leave you be for the rest of the day so ya can whisper sweet nothings to your paperwork." He smirked slightly at the end of his statement, finding himself amusing.
Fine, if it would leave him in peace for the day he'd indulge the man. This was ridiculous. He tried to smile, upturning the corner's of his lips and trying to make it meet his eyes, because after all he was Cid Raines, and if he was going to do something he was going to do it correctly.
Rygdea blinked for a moment, staring at the sight before speaking in a quiet tone."
"That was terrifying." Without another word he left his office.
Cid blinked as he watched him leave, grumbling and going back to his paperwork.
