Day 2,622: Flames Extinguished - 23
I feel a little bad about stealing the scrolls from the monastery, they helped me when I was in a bad place but I don’t have the twenty years they wanted me to train before they’d teach me to read dimensional text. I’ve heard enough from travelers visiting during my time there that I know there are dimensional scholars somewhere in this world, all I have to do is find them and I’ll be on my way. Even though Nachos won’t be big enough to ride for a while I can’t believe that finding a few scholars could take even half as long as the monks would have made me wait.
I’m heading west to start, towards the exploding plains of Flendor near the mists of the Never Zone, which I don’t plan to visit if I can help it. This might all be a moot point though if I come across Hekapoo on the way, cob knows the clone that had been watching the monastery was easy enough to catch so maybe the last two years of training have been more helpful than I expected. Regardless, I made a promise to her and I won’t let anything stand in my way.
Author note:
Thanks to everyone who read along through the journey that was Clone 22. I appreciate everyone who’s followed, liked, and shared what I’ve put out there and hope to keep putting out work you’ll enjoy for a long time. Clone 22 started as a little idea to fill in some of the time skip from Running with Scissors and just sort of kept going. I could probably keep it going even longer, I actually had some thoughts about how Marco would subconsciously pull the next several clones in almost romantically as he went to blow out their flames (flustering H-Poo each time the memories came back to her) or how the time Marco almost had her on the Plains of Flendor and Never Zone was because she actually considered letting him catch her, but those aren’t really the story I set out to tell. I had an idea for one specific clone and that’s what I went with. I tried to tie it into everything else we know about Marco’s time in Hekapoo’s dimension as best I could, but mostly I just told the story I wanted to. If I have any regrets, they would be about the inconsistent art style. I wanted to do it halfway between the show and how I normally draw things, which led to some panels I’m not really proud of and caused me to slip more and more into my own style as time went on, especially for the “After” pages. I’m still pretty happy of what I made overall and am just glad so many people seemed to like it too. So thanks everyone for reading and I hope you enjoy what else is to come.

Day 1882: Flames Extinguished...22
After making sure five monsters could never hurt anyone again, a monk from some monastery invited me to come meditate or whatever. It sounds like there might be something useful at this place so I’m going along for now.

Day 41: H-Poo agreed to my idea! I don’t know what changed her mind, but before the drinks started kicking in we made plans for how the trip will go. Then once the drinks kicked in we did other things that came to mind. It’s gonna be great though, and tomorrow’s going to be the start of a whole new chapter in our lives.
