Chapter 3

My days at Basgiath have been somewhat quite no one has dared to attack me, maybe its because of the display of my strength during combat training. I am the undefeated champion till now. My last match was with Liam and the match was difficult as he was trained by Xaden himself. I haven’t had the chance to see Xaden or Garrick for that matter. I bumped into Bhodi and Imogen quite a few times now but they seem to avoid my presence. Maybe because I am Aetos or maybe because Imogen was embarrassed from our last encounter. I don’t know why Bhodi’s avoiding me, he is supposed to be the gentler version of Xaden

“Are you even listening to what I am saying?” Dain groaned annoyed making me snap back to reality

“Oh yes I am” I smiled sweetly making him more annoyed “Come on brother I always listen to you”

He sighed and rubbed his face “Okay.. father is going to be here to see how you- I mean we are doing. I want you to be careful okay?”

‘He’s coming here?’ I thought as my face froze ‘No.. this shouldn’t happen’ I started panicking remembering all my memories from the Aetos mansion and how he treated me, how each of my mistakes were treated

“Hey” Dain shook my shoulder “I won’t let anything happen to you I promise” he said

I side hugged him “I am scared” I whisper closing my eyes as tears formed in my eyes

“I know but I will be here always sis” he rubbed my back “you won’t get hurt again”

I took a deep breath and wiped my tears “I know you should take care too brother” I whispered as I rubbed my arm

“I will” he ruffled my hair and smiled at me “I have to go now don’t make trouble okay?” he gave me a quick hug before standing up and walking away

‘I need to make sure I can escape my father’ I thought thinking of ways and reasons to escape as I covered my face with my hands

“What’s a beautiful lady doing out here alone?” a voice called from behind me as I turned to look who it was

“Mairi what are you doing here?” I asked trying to keep my voice as steady as possible

“An answer for an answer” he smirked “may I?” he asked gesturing to the space beside me making me nod

“I was talking to my brother he left a few minutes ago” I replied as he sat next to me

“Hmm and I am guessing he didn’t share a good news” I looked at him surprised “oh don’t look at me like that” he laughed “anguish is written all over your face… and it doesn’t suit such a pretty face” he brushed a strand of my hair behind my ear

I looked away blushing “it is true he didn’t give me a good news”

“Need a knight in shining armour to save you, my lady?” he asked dramatically making me laugh all my worries washing away in an instant

“Maybe I do.. are you volunteering Mairi?” I asked looking at him, he started to lean closer to me his breath hot on my face

“Oh I sure am… ever since you kicked my ass on the mat you have been on my mind constantly” his voice dropped to a whisper

I closed my eyes and leaned forward as well ‘My first kiss in this new life is Liam Mairi’

“Y/N!!!” I heard someone yell before I was yanked away from Liam “What do you think you are doing?” a slap landed on my face

“Father I-“ I couldn’t finish my sentence when another slap landed on my cheek

“Colonel Aetos you shouldn’t hurt a lady especially your own daughter!” Liam yelled standing behind me

“You don’t need to concern yourself in this family matter Cadet” Father said gripping my hand making me whimper “you should go to the others or you will receive a punishment from me” he slared as he started yanking me to follow him

“Call my brother” I mouthed to Liam his hand was stretched towards me as though asking me if I needed help but I didn’t have a choice but to follow my father who was squeezing my wrist so tightly that it would leave marks

We soon arrived at his chambers as he pushed me inside and slammed the door shut ‘NO PLEASE NO DAIN WHERE ARE YOU!?’ I bit my lips trembling in fear “Father i-it wasn’t as it looked like” I managed to stammer the words out

He didn’t say anything but rummage his luggage I knew what was coming “Father please it wasn’t what it looked like” I started backing away in fear

“Oh so it wasn’t like my daughter- the colonel Aetos’s daughter was about to kiss a merry traitor?” he asked as he took a whip out “Didn’t I tell you, you should keep your innocence? You are to be wed to Prince Halden or Prince Camlaen and you dare dishonour my name?”

SLASH I felt the burn in my legs as I crashed down

“I-I didn’t father we were just talking” I sobbed as I curled up on the floor taking the hits he was giving me

“Such a disgrace first you took my wife from me now you are trying to dishonour my name by being a whore to a traitor?” he slashed the whip more harshly making me bleed on the floor

‘Dain where are you?’ I begged for him to come and save me in my thoughts as I received more wiping 'Why did I get reincarnated in this wicked household?' I sobbed as I hugged myself

He grabbed my hair and pulled me up so I was facing him “You are going to keep your damn innocence one of my people will be here to see that you stay away from those bastards and any other men in question did I make myself clear?”

I gave him a weak nod in return which made him angrier “DID I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR!?” he demanded gripping my hair tighter

“Yes sir, you made it clea-“ my sentence was interrupted as I heard a CLASH and I heard the window break as wind as intense as a storm blew into the room

‘Garrick’s signet?’ I coughed as I curled on the floor after my father let me go to check on the situation

The last thing I saw was the shadows moving beneath my curled body before everything turned black

Dain pov-

I was doing my squad leader duties when one of the first years burst into my cabin

“Aetos… Y/n she..” he was breathing heavily as he gestured wildly. Hearing my sisters name made me stand up immediately as I walked towards him

“What happened to my sister?” I demanded

“Follow me” he said as he started jogging i started following him worried about my sister

He led me towards a room not just any room Xaden Riorsen’s room ‘what the hell is Y/n doing there?’

Xaden had to pull me in as he had warded the door “Where the hell is my sister?” I demanded looking around when a figure on the bed caught my eye. My breath stopped when I recognized who it was. I cautiously approached the bed not believing my eyes I had promised myself I wouldn’t let this happen again

‘Breathe’ I heard Cath in my head he was worried about my sister as well, as me and my sister share a bond he too thinks of Y/n as his sister and is protective too as he has seen how she has been treated in the Aetos house

“What happened?” I asked as I sat on the floor holding my sisters hand. I could look into her head of course I could but I love my sister too much to invade her privacy without her consent especially when she is so wounded like this

“Me and Y/n were talking near the stair case when Colonel Aetos came… he saw us talking and he slapped her” the blond guy confessed, I know him he is Liam Mairi “he slapped her twice infront of me… she asked me to get you but I couldn’t find you so we had to do something so I asked for their help” he said gesturing to Xaden, Garrick and Bhodi

I nodded my head “I treated her as much as possible” Xaden said “we didn’t take her to the infirmary because Colonel Aetos would go there first so we brought her here”

“Thank you for saving her” I told them sincerely I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be thanking Xaden Riorsen out of all the people in the world

“Look man I know this is your family shit but this is too messed up and since we are already involved in this you might as well tell us why your father treats her this way” Garrick said flatly but I could see he was concerned too

‘Tell them’ Cath demanded

‘What!? Cath they are-‘ he cut me off

‘I don’t care who they are! They saved little one from danger they might do it again if they get to know about the situation so tell them right now’ he growled

‘okay geez’ I sighed

I nodded my head rubbing the back of my neck “I am telling you guys this for saving my sister and for her sake too..” I sighed feeling Xaden’s intense gaze on me, he is intimidating as hell even if my pride agrees not to be intimidated by him “we should sit down this is a long story…”

ONYX STORM : CHAPTER 7 (READING THOUGHTS)

SPOILERS FOR ONYX STORM

The chapter starts with some severe treason, and all Riddick is concerned about is his feelings of FOMO (fear of missing out) over being left out of the quest squad. Meanwhile, everyone else is worried about being caught and executed because, if Iron Flame showed us anything, it is that the staff at Basgiath are not above torturing their students for information.

This whole Ocean’s 11 heist highlights the importance of all the quadrants Basgiath working together (specifically riders, artillery (Dyre) and, although they're not strictly a quadrant, the fliers (Maren)

They go and get Swayer who gives major “I've been expecting you vibes”

Despite intercepting the squad, Mira decides not to rat them out as she acknowledges that this act of treason will enable the fliers to use their gifts again and therefore improve negotiation efforts

Brennen and his overinflated sense of self-importance are there too.

Shit nearly its the fan but thanks to Riddock and his ice-wielding Signet & Maren disaster is avoided

The next day cat uses her signet to mess with the riders and im genuinely questioning if the fliers getting their abilities back is a good thing.

Genuinely forgot that General Aetos wasn't dead. A guy can dream. He charges Violet with high treason and looks smug about it. Tell me you are surprised by this and I'll call you a liar

General Aetos publicly disowns his son, and, I know I don't like the guy, but I genuinely feel sorry for Dain.
