It's really not.

But no, we did a bunch of other stuff in the lab, there was a lot of sketching (I AM NOT AN ARTIST PLEASE MAKE ME STOP DRAWING) and we looked at some bacteria growths, and dissected a flower.

We just didn't do anything with the fruits we were told we had to buy. I just don't understand the point. Why couldn't they have just told us to think of a fruit? Or assign each of us one in the lab t talk about? There was NO reason for us to have to buy them.

Much sad about the mango. But I went to a bonfire later that night and now my plaid smells like fire and I'm happy.

I think you frame it in differentiation and say you plan for a lesson but ofren have to modify as you go to meet the diverse learners in your class.

Do you have exemplars of what is expected at these grade levels? For us we have curriculum expectations and grade the student on these by A B C D or R which is failing. We cannot enhance a writing grade by participation. As a spec ed teacher I think it is important to grade...

I don't think we have exemplars on writing, per se. At least, I haven't been given any and I don't recall talking about them. Personally, I grade on content, rather than on the mechanics, so I just need to understand what it is that the student is writing. I may have to talk with the classroom teachers this week about what they are doing. 

In some ways, it would be easier if these students were in Special Ed, because there are always resources and the IEP sometimes even gives grading guidelines.
