3. In what ways are they good and bad for each other?

Bad for each other? More prominent in the canon-verse, but there's still an aspect even in the better AU; uh, they can be very enabling on pessimistic tendencies, and this is a major contributing factor to what Shepard does at the end of ME3. There's a shared sense of doom that neither of them can or will push back against in the main canon, and I'd say Thane's a little worse on this there? In that - for all he believes in Shepard, he doesn't voice some sense that she'll live to see the end of the war, you know?

Now, that does also turn into a twisted way of being good for each other - especially in how Thane is good for Adrian, in that she /desperately/ needed someone who could operate on the possibility of Not Surviving, trying to keep up with everyone's talk of the future was genuinely setting her up for a bit of a mental break down the line.

6. What made them become a couple? What keeps them together?

Since this is the less-than-wholesome game, I'm gonna focus on one of the less-than-wholesome reasons lmao.

What brought them together is, honestly... also one of the things that keeps them together, even in the golden AU, and that is: a simultanious, bone-deep sense of self-loathing and desperation to not be alone.

So much of what drew them to each other in ME2 was that sense of finding someone who'd like... fucked up so hard and was in a line of work where one couldn't really judge the other without being a massive hypocrite (and in Adrian's case, Thane is one of like... maybe two on the SR-2 she felt she could approach fully as a peer); and while they do find they have quite a bit in common and it does become more than that... some of what keeps it lasting is a shared sense of, 'I kind of suck but I don't want to be alone, at least you're as bad as me.'

9. How do they feel about each other's exes and people who flirt with them? Is jealousy an issue in general?

Okay so exes-wise, uhhh - considering, yknow, Thane's only ex situation is Irikah, Adrian's. She has no problem there for a few reasons lmao. Likewise, Thane has no real feelings one way or the other regarding Shepard's, considering... Kaidan is... also dead, and Adrian lost track of/contact with her ex-girlfriend from college ages ago, a run-in would be extremely unlikely.

FLIRTING though -

Tbh I see Thane is like. Secure enough to not care much about anyone trying to make a pass at Shepard - honestly it might even be funny, because she is so goddamn bad at picking up on that even happening.

Adrian, though?

It's not one of those things she'll (usually) externalize, but... yeah no there is just this. Very deep-seated little jealousy instinct that basically leaves her physically biting her tongue to not start shit sometimes, if she catches on to someone trying to flirt with Thane. It's less to do with lack of trust, and more the just... audacity, I guess; that and Shepard just... has an intensely deep-rooted little bit of possessiveness in her core. One of those ugly little bits that won't go away no matter how much she works on it, it's just a matter of keeping it contained.

13. Are there any regrets or unresolved issues between them?

See @ 6 lmao. Beyond that?

... one thing that might come up, that... idk like it might get discussed more than once, but it feels more like one of those things that is just silently agreed upon as 'we are not touching this again', is that - like.

Shepard has been vehemently 'I am never having kids' in any capacity for like, her entire life. (Honestly, I think that's another reason why she held back with Kaidan; he just had that vibe of being someone who would really want kids one day in a dealbreaker sort of way for her.) When she does get serious with Thane (in the golden AU, since in canon there's not exactly much of a reason for it to be a factor), she makes this clear, and he agrees enough to stay with her, of course -

But I think there is a bit of disappointment in there. Less so on Adrian's part overall, but sometimes there is that sense of... 'I wish I could'/wondering how it would go, but ultimately she knows she's just not cut out for parenthood and that's that.

Thane, meanwhile - I've always HC'd that he loved it. That after getting out of the Compact, after being introduced to like - actual family, he would've been content with that for the rest of his life. And... then he screwed up to a point where it's a downright miracle that he reconnects with Kolyat at all.

Logically, it makes sense; and being with Shepard, who is so dead-set (/a different species lmao), does make it quite a bit easier. But there is always going to be a part of Thane that does regret not being able to have children with Shepard in some capacity, and it's always going to sting.

Oh my God, where to begin? Honestly, you are a breath of fresh air and a strong bastion of sanity in this hellsite. Seeing you on my dash or in my notifications always makes me day and keeps a tedious work day seem less dull or tiresome (yes, I totally lurk on your blog XD). Your creativity and passion towards your characters, writing, and other projects amazes me to no end and reminds me to get back on the writing saddle when I'm slipping. You are freaking fantastic and a wonderful, caring friend, a kind and all-around thoughtful person, and I would fight the universe itself to ensure that you'd have a relaxing, drama free year (and many more)! Seriously, at the risk of sounding corny or cliché, you are a diamond in the rough. I am so lucky to know you and have you as my friend. :D <3
