One last stop thoughts

First of all, thanks  @troubledpinkypie for the recommendation

That said, I really liked it. I don’t think i’ve ever read a book so fast. Maybe just The Rise of Kyoshi was read as fast. 

I have always loved reading but since I discoveered ff it’s been difficult to get into books. I suppose it’s cause ff gives me the ooportunity to have everything I want or any mood I’m in with a simple click. And there’s plenty of fics book size.

Anyway, this book, plus the Kyoshi one made me come back to the magic of reading. I truly loved it, it’s a very fluffy book that just makes you feel warm inside. Makes you feel conflicted just like the characters feel. But above all, I felt it made me feel safe. I am not the only queer person among my friends, but most of them aren’t queer. And while eveyone that I care about knows I’m bi, I feel I can’t be always as open as I wish, feeling trapped sometimes without reason, cause they are all accepting. So, seeing this group of queer friends, just enjying life, and just being unapolegically themselves just made me really happy and warm inside. And this is the type of comfortable I aspire to be.

On another news, from what I’ve read, this book isn’t always very accurate about the places they’re narrating about. I’m not familiar with New York, nor it’s zones or how their public transport works, so, if you do, might want to keep in mind, from some comments I’ve read, that the book isn’t as accurate as it should.

Regarding our portagonist, August, that feeling of being lost, it’s so fucking accurate and I felt it to my bonens. As a young adult, you’re just trying to find your place into the world, trying to become an actual adult and a fuctioning member of this society, not always easy, plenty of times exhausting and undoubtfully a rollercoaster.

Finally, out other protagonist, Jane, someone whom I fell in love since moment one, a chinese punk lesbian woman from the 70s who is unapologetically herself, who stayed true to who she was even in a time that was very dangerous, showing us the way many of members of our community have fought for what we have nowadays, how in many places people are STILL fighting. And while it doesn’t dwell much on her stories, because at the end of the day it’s a romantic story and that’s it’s main focus, it’s still a nice reminder on why we celebrate pride month, why we continue to march, because things might have gotten better for a lot of us, but the fight isn’t over.

PS. I won’t dwell on the group friends or the co-workers because it would be too lenghty but I loved them all
