This morning I could tell that I wasnt feeling it when I woke up. Nearly fell back to sleep and ended up being late to class. We worked in 3 small groups in Aerial. I'm in the "experienced" group with Kitty and Grace but I'm definitely the least strong in the group. We did a few bits of hoop, then spent a bit of time on ropes and silks... Or rather I spent time trying to straddle climb the rope and failing miserably. We also worked on up and overs with Claire, both from beats and the floor. Again, failed miserably; my up and overs are atrocious. This is the first day I've felt properly unable to do something for being so tired. I had planned to do a few handstands and walk the tightwire and play on the rola bola during free training time. I was, however, summoned to the mats with the rest of the group as Emily the aerial teacher was supervising training and wanted us all to do aerial conditioning. I had a mini internal strop at first as this wasnt what I expected, I wasn't feeling it and I had a big lunch which I was still digesting (fish and chips...terribly naughty but I needed the carbs today). However I didn't want to miss out on it and it turned out to be really helpful. It wrecked my hands but it was all stuff I need to work on. And at the end I asked her to look at my straddle climb on the rope and she told me I was reaching too high with it and and to hold the rope just above my knee after every straddle. Taking this advice I got 4 subsequent straddles in which absolutely made my day and I was so grateful. I have been struggling with that for ages and ages and ages! Just showed me that giving things a go despite your doubts may work out in the end!
