They are fully removeable/reuseable sleeves made from pantyhose painted with watered-down acrylic paint.
I heavily relied on @pixie-horror’s incredible reference sheet, supplemented with stills from the show (if you search “ofmd ed tattoo reference” here you’ll find some good collections of stills). Non-Māori cosplayers need to omit Taika’s wrist tā moko on the right.
I tried Sharpie at first and it did NOT work, it ended up bleeding slowly and turning the whole sleeve green 😬
They have thumb/pinkie holes at the hand and have 3 buttons and loops sewn at the shoulder to attach to a bra or bralette strap.
If you don’t wear this kind of undergarment, someone in another group suggested cutting a neck hole in the crotch and wearing them that way! You could also sew buttons into the shoulder of your shirt.
These were the hose I used and not only were they pretty cheap at CVS, they were incredibly run-resistant and I was able to cut into them without using any kind of fray stopper or anything. (They also come in packs of 2 in case you fuck up lol.) And at least at my CVS, they had a range of skintones and sizes.
