I think I never shared this hc on tumblr so…
After cEret’s coronation, cDream invites her to a ‘welcoming’ dinner. One of the political kind, behind closed doors, where all the important decisions are made.
Halfway through the dinner, cDream pulls out his pocket watch. It’s gold and glass and shrouded in ancient magic.
He holds it up by the end of its chain and begins to, slowly, gently, let it sway back and forth.
“Now, your Majesty, let’s make sure you understand exactly how this is going to work.”
