Coping with the recent deaths by imagining dead people polycule
I am once again reminded of my least favourite mentality way too many people have
"I didnt like it, so its bad/ shouldn't exist"
Im sure everyone can guess what im talking about but for those who havent realised, im talking about how people are acting about the crk beast yeast end.
No it was not poorly written. Objectively speaking it was well written but they made heavy choices that not everyone was going to like and thats that.
The writers clearly put a lot of effort in and its saddening to see people talk down what is the hard work of others.
Imagine if you were in their shoes? Imagine you wrote a ending you loved and than people start getting mad at you because they personally didnt like it?
Thats just rude.
If you dont like it, write fanfic, draw fanart for how you would've liked it! Thats the point of fanfics isn't it?
But yeah lets all be civil, we all have opinions and we're allowed to have them but lets not be hateful :3
KINDA A SPOILER WARNING FOR CHAPTER 15 UP AHEAD ⚠️
⚠️ Spoilers CRK Chapter 15 ⚠️

FOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE??????????
OMG OMG OMG IS HE REAL???? WHAT???
The new update was crazy...
I SIMPLY JUST HAD TO!!!! I SWEAR-
Anyways some cookiechat hc's i have (mostly beast and ancients focused)
•Burning spice is a very slow texter, NOT 👆🏻 bc he's stupid (squints at some of u) but bc the phone is very small and the text is tiny, so he has to pull on his glasses (he's so old man) and type each letter one at a time. Eventually nutmeg tiger gets him a cookie tablet and has the text big as hell and things are much easier for him
•Mystic Flour is always "losing" her phone. Cloud Hatae does not realize she is "losing" her phone and brings it to her every time they find it. She takes it, begrudgingly, and then "loses" it again. The cycle never ends.
•Eternal sugar genuinely loses her phone. This is what happens when you are just sooo sleepy all the time. You forget where you put things.
•The beasts do have a group chat but it's pretty dry. It's mostly Eternal Sugar talking about Hollyberry cookie, and occasionally Shadow milk sniping at her. Every 3 days Silent Salt sends "Kill Your Self." Exactly like that too.
•Mozzarella cookie (yes I know she isn't in cookiechat, let me dream. Papa i LOVE HER-) is so Camie mha coded. She is constantly texting memes and emojis. Golden Cheese is very old woman coded, but she finds it endearing.
•Following that, I refuse to believe Golden Cheese is caught up on the modern cookie meme scene. She's THE millennial in an old persons home meme, she is referencing shit from before most cookies were baked.
•After White Lily dies, the Ancients still text her. Pure Vanilla sends her messages all the time. When he thinks of something funny, when he remembers something from their youth. Pictures of flowers, and birds, and the children. All the things she'll never get to see again.
•Dark Cacao is the next, most frequent texter (yes this is my cacao lily agenda, whatever) he sends her pictures of the painting of her that lives in the medical ward. Other paintings he makes of her and the others (mostly of her) he tells her how he's doing. How he is mending his relationship with Dark Choco. He tells her about the snow on the mountain tops, and the single potted lily he has been tending to. Only once does he tell her he loved her. The next time he opens the chat he deletes the message.
•Holly texts her infrequently. Tells her about balls, and battles, about the food she eats, and the drinks she tries. The sights she sees, and about that silly dragon, all the friends she makes on her adventures. About her granddaughters. When she's on the wrong side of tipsy, closer to drunk, she tells her she's sorry this world was so cruel to her. That she understands her sacrifice, but hates that she had to be the one to make it. That it should have been her. That war is a cruel thing, for constantly taking her softest compatriots. That, there was a strength in her kindness, in her hope. That she deserved better.
•Golden Cheese texts exactly twice. Once to thank her for her gift. Once to tell her that she forgives her. That she misses her. That she's sorry they'll never get a chance to make amends in person. (This is also my golden lily agenda. They are so tragic to me.)
Chapter 15 was…. ok? I guess.
Everyone I've seen posting about it all seem to hate the fact the White Lily Cookie died. A few posted about Salty dying being bad too, and I see where they are coming from.
Then, a Tumblr user by the name of @toasted-valentine said this (go check their post out! :D) and I felt upset... because they might be right.
Silent Salt doesn't understand the other beasts, only seeing them as failed creations to be purged. He thought that he doesn't deserve to live and ended up offing himself. Sure, it was for a good cause (preventing his power from winding up in Shadow Milk's hands), but still... it doesn't feel right.
The Devs wrote Silent Salt as a character who has lost all faith in himself. He's someone who had everything only to lose it all and he still never asked why. Why did the Beasts corrupt? Why did their puppet-followers go after his Knights? What happened to cause all of his former colleagues to slip into darkness?
The fact that he never asked these questions and just excepted the "We all failed and no longer deserve to live" mentality is just...so, so sad. Like, you never wondered where everyone went wrong? How and why, everything fell apart? That you and your former Friends might have been set up for failure from the beginning. The fact that he refuses to try and get to the bottom of everything... plus the fact that he refuses (or at least minimizes) to see all of the good that he did for the world makes me wanna cry.
Don't get me wrong, I love Silent Salt! He's my favorite Beast, but I feel like his resolution is incomplete. I was expecting something along the lines of him trying to die fighting only for the people he helped in the past to save him and help him find a new reason to keep on going. I was expecting his character arch to be Salty learning how to face his past mistakes and start over. I was also expecting him to slowly learn about the horrors that the other beasts went through and for him to realize just how good he had it, as well as him wondering what he could have done to better help his fellow emissaries. (He didn't even know what they went through in the first place, so..)
So, for his story to end with him killing himself... it feels unfinished. Wrong. Part of me hopes that he's somehow still alive in the Silver Tree (since it was his laboratory dough form that got destroyed), or if he'll somehow get rejected by death, or get reborn, or reincarnated, or something. He learned nothing from his battles recently and needs to be thrown back into the ring to see what he missed.
For White Lily herself... her death makes sense, but same as Silent Salt and also referring back to the post, it's tragic. Mostly because she didn't have the right support. While Silent Salt has his redeeming qualities, his viewpoints [about the beasts, White Lily, and himself all being irredeemable monsters] are not one of them. While Lily was correct to come to the conclusion that she and Dark Enchantress Cookie were one in the same, but relying on Salty's solution of self-sacrifice as the ultimate form of atonement was the wrong call.
How should Lily have ended the War? I don't know. I've seen some suggest merging with Dark Enchantress. My personal assumption would have been trapping Dark Enchantress in the Silver Tree, keeping both Lily and her alive, but that idea would have spit in the face of everything Lily preached about in the Catacombs. How the Horrors of evil cannot be locked away with the risk of someone trying to free them... all that. Other than those two ideas, I'm not sure.
As for everything else, since I'm here....
Shout out to Red Velvet for having the most hilarious betrayal arch I've ever seen. Like, "This witch is crazy! Imma walk out of here with my dogs and just casually dox my former boss about the best place to blow up her expensive sugar castle to a random researcher on my way out. Not my problem what happens next!" :3 (I'm not kidding when I say that I was laughing throughout the whole thing!)
Another tally for Espresso Cookie goes on the "Single-handedly saving the day" board. Seriously! This is the 3rd time he's come in clutch! (First was the magic candy, second was him saving the Soul Jams from Custard the B*tch.)
Also, R.I.P. Pomegranate and her emotions. I don't know what she's gonna do now, but man... (I never liked her, but now I feel a bit sorry for her.)
All of the cookies of darkness... we're gonna need an after-episode of what happens to them. Cause they were nowhere to be seen for a good chunk of the story.
Dark Choco didn't show up anywhere... Why? Where is he? He should have been here... somewhere... :(
The Beasts' Minions are... where? What happened to these guys? (Mostly, I'm just curious about Pavlova. Did he escape?)
Bravery Hill was good. I love the idea they introduced of Multiple cookies sharing a recipe. I'm gonna use that for something soon. :3
I'm surprised more people aren't apologizing to the Sugar Swan. She just saved a bunch of favorite cookies from dying. She even saved the Cream Wolf! But then again, she didn't do much outside of that, so I guess that's fair...
The Guardians didn't do too much here at all. Got nothing to say about them at the moment.
WHERE THE HECK IS SALT CELLAR!!??? WHAT DID YOU GUYS DO WITH HER??? IS SHE DEAD!!??? (We last saw her at the rift, but after that... We got nothing.)
Good to know what happened to the Saint Pastry Order after the events of Premonition of Doom. Also, shout out to Doughael for indirectly helping White Lily save the world. (It's not much of a win on their part due the blood (jam?) sacrifices, but hey. When you have assimilated with an eldritch abomination, you take your wins where you can get them.)
Pastry never got to see the battle. I don't blame Salty for that too much, but still... it's a bit of a shame.
Because of Pure Vanilla's reaction to Lily's death, I feel like we just watched Lily get fridged in 4K... (that bit might just be me though, so...)
Holly, Cacao, and Goldy did absolutely nothing in this chapter and I am disappointed. So did their Beast Counterparts. Bigger Disappointment. >:(
Elder Faerie is dead. White Lily is also dead. Who's running the Faerie Kingdom now? What's gonna happen to the Silver Tree???
As for the Light of Solidarity.... I didn't hate that bit... I just wish we had more details about it. I get that it's new, so I hope that we get more info about that.
The other beasts are now merged with Shadow Milk Cookie... So... does that make @intistone's Symbiote AU canon? Even a little bit canon?? Just out of morbid curiosity....
Speaking of which, congrats! There can now be an Ultimate Symbiote!! (Only if you want one for Gingerbrave to fight against! All up to you! :})
I don't think Shadow Milk is gonna be our main antagonist going forward. If he is, then it's not gonna last long. After all! We have the Dragons to look forward to next. So, unless it's Shadow Milk manipulating all of the Dragons with lies, I don't think he's gonna be present... unless we have to team up with the dragons to take him down... then I have no idea what we'll do...
The Timekeeper is coming to Kingdom in May, and we got to see her fight!!!! (She's my favorite Ovenbreak character!) Cannot wait to see her in action! Also, keep in mind that the Devs are most likely not going to retcon Timekeeper unless they've completely lost their marbles. Wanna know why I believe that? The Sugar Swan we saw in Kingdom is the Kingdom version of the Sugar Swan. Kingdom Sugar Swan has a dark side to her in the form of Black Sugar Swan. In Ovenbreak, Black Sugar Swan is a separate character from the regular Sugar Swan. Unlike them however, TIMEKEEPER HAS ALMOST NO VARIENTS (Except the Ruler of the Ephemeral Flow). She is the only one of her kind both in the Ovenbreak and Kingdom universes. There is only one Timekeeper, and that Timekeeper is a Croissant variant. There are Croissant variants out there, but Timekeeper is unique. If they change this about the lore, then we'll will know for sure that Devsis has officially lost their minds! (ok, rant over!)
Also, just remember that Timekeeper has the power of Time on her side. Time is the measure of Change (New crack ship unlocked: SpiceKeeper :D). So... if she wanted to, Timekeeper could completely rewrite the events of this chapter! (She probably won't, but hey. A girl can dream...)
There is a witch out there... somewhere. Is it First Milk? It is First Cream? First Egg? We may never know...
Wouldn't it be messed up if every main arch ends with a Soul Jam getting refused back into its complete form and both of their owners dying? (And then when all of the soul jams are refused the witches show up to re-bake all of the owners back into their original cookie forms?) :D
Anyways, I'm gonna be posting some art soon for an Au Idea that's been consuming my mind since the Catacombs of Silence update. I'll give all the details I can for that, but I'm probably not gonna continue the AU past it's showcase, mainly because I have a dozen other projects to get to.
Thanks for sticking with me to the end!!! :3
