Always carry a knife.

This is my newest baby. The CRKT Copacetic. CRKT is one of the rare knife brands that successfully walks the line between affordable and junk. Yes, they are now made in China. However, in my experience they are well designed and durable tools, while being cheap enough to not give me a stroke when I eventually drop it down a storm drain or fumble it into a lake somewhere. And trust me, I will lose it at some point.

With very few and brief exceptions, I have had some sort of blade on my person at all times since I was about 7 years old. Usually more than one knife. I was raised to understand that a man always has the basic tools and skills at hand to deal with situations that may commonly appear in life. Most people who grew up with me understood this as a basic fact.

We all carried knives throughout my school years. Teachers would commonly ask to borrow someone’s pocket knife should the need arise during the school day. I once won a beautiful fixed blade knife for reaching a fundraising goal as a freshman in FFA, and was presented with that knife during the school day.

I try not to get on a political stump on this particular blog :) I am just reminiscing a little I guess, while I wonder how so many seemingly smart people can totally miss the mark when it comes to addressing the possible causes of recent troubles of which we are all painfully aware.

Also, I come at this from a Man’s perspective because I am a Man. It is important to note, though, that my Wife is a bigger knife nut than I am :)
