Crowdsourcing industry report data talk

34% growth of worker labor base across all categories.

Interesting: 33% of large enterprise growth in the expertise-based category, which is where ziptask fits in. Very promising.

Seems a strong increase in the retail and financial industries use of on-demand labor. Also, over the last 2 years, 50% of a growth factor for larger enterprises’ adoption of micro tasking as a part of their organization.

The statistics and data continue to point to long term, sustained growth that accompanies population growth, but specific to areas with solid education rates and internet speeds.

Great statistics in their pursuit of reliable data on the crowdsourced labor on various platforms.

Apparently people employed on the various platforms have a few items on their wish list (also can be stated as a “necessary skills list”)… - Purpose. They want to understand how the small part they are playing plays into the overall project. - Consistency. Each day, they login and are asked to do something very different and unpredictable. This is celebrated as “freedom” and “variety” which contrasts the normal (boring) cubicle job, but lacks appeal terms of predictability, which introduces more stress than they would like. - Self-Discipline. Working remotely can test a partially skilled laborer’s discipline to work enough hours and fulfill enough of the effort. Many workers on these platforms spent more time looking for the ‘gold mine’ project with a larger payout than they spent actually working. This “casino-mindset” is more harmful than helpful, seeing their net earnings deteriorate over time. - Focus. There are actually major challenges in staying focused on a specific micro-tasks, which require special software installed to prevent anything else from distracting them on their desktop.

Good talk. Take-away would be to consider the longer term implications on crowd sourcing to micro task platforms before starting.
