More musical clues for PJM1?

In the W Korea interview released this week, Jimin was asked who he was listening to recently and he mentioned Park Hwayobi and Honne.

Since it's a pattern that these guys like to drop clues in their interviews let's dig into this a bit.

Park Hwayobi

Park Hwayobi is known as SK's "Queen of R&B". Her biggest hit which got to No.6 in the Korean charts was Bye Bye Bye in 2010.

Her latest single was Sunset in 2021.

Fun fact and possible additional clue, RM posted her song How is it going? from the Because I Love You album on Instagram this month (23/01/2023).

I wonder if Jimin is going to pull an RM on us with an R&B collaboration with an established star.

Honne

Secondly Jimin says he is listening to Honne (本音 or "true feelings") the British electronic music duo who debuted in 2016 with their album Warm on a Cold Night. This album was really popular in South Korea where it went platinum.

It also included their song, Somebody that Loves You with Izzy Bizu.

Their association with BTS, and in particular RM, goes back to 2019 when they released Crying Over You featuring RM and Beka.

In 2020, the were producers on RM's Seoul

and last year they have credits for Closer on RM's Indigo album.

As far as I can remember they weren't amongst the songwriters and producers that have posted about working with Jimin last year but you never know they too could be in the mix for PJM1.

Crying Over You

A/N: An angsty thing inspired by Crying Over You by The Band Camino because I’ve been obsessed with their music as of late.

Word Count: ~700

It was one of those endings they both saw coming, but nobody wanted to be the first to pull the trigger. Because when they were good, they were great. The problem was, they hadn’t been good for a long while. And when they started making excuses to not be around each other, it became this stalemate of clinging to a relationship for fear of wounded pride rather than real heartache.

There was a knock on Luke’s door and he held back a sigh as he rose to his feet, bracing himself for what he expected to be another fight of talking in circles. He set his glass of tequila down on the little end table by the door, raked a hand through his curls, and pulled open the door. “Hey, darling,” he rasped.

“Hey,” she answered with an edge to her voice, moving straight past him and sitting down on the couch.

The closing of the door drowned out his sigh of annoyance. “Another night spent crying?” he guessed, his own voice flat and void of sympathy. He learned long ago to stop jumping through hoops for her when she got like this. Let her sulk and bite his tongue as she berated him, and take out all the frustration in make up sex where they’d both swear they’d be better. Rinse. Repeat. 

She scoffed in disgust, looking over at her shoulder at him. “God, you’re such an asshole, you know that?”

“Tell me something I don’t know,” he quipped, taking a sip of his drink.

“Fine. If you’re too much a bitch to do it, I will. I’m done. We’re done.”

While the words took him by surprise, he kept his tone flat as he responded, bored even as he leaned against his front door, studying her over the rim of his glass. “And I suppose this is my fault? For being the bitch? Or is it asshole?” Even though this fight was new, it was a safe bet that it was his fault. According to her, it was always his fault, because God forbid the blame ever lie squarely on her shoulders where it belonged. 

“Fuck you! Do you even care? You don’t, do you? Cuz maybe if you did, you could at least act like you give a shit. And you can’t even give a fuck long enough to be a man, and end this. You had to bitch out, and make me end things.”

Luke stalked over in a rage, coming to a halt once he was towering over her. “I bitched out?! Me?! In case you forgot, I’m the only one who keeps trying to fix us! You know all the right buttons to push, the right words to say to paint me like the bad guy when all I ever fuckin’ did was try and love you! But you didn’t want someone to love, did you? You just wanted someone to fight with. And like an idiot, I took the bait every damn time. Because I was stupid enough to think we were fighting for something.”

She glared up at him with what he could only describe as pure hatred. Eyes that had once looked at him with what he thought was love were now lifeless and cold. A perfect metaphor for their relationship that was finally being ripped apart at the seams. “We were fighting for something. In the beginning anyway. And then you stopped caring.”

His hands came to grip the back of the couch, his gaze shifting up towards the ceiling like the answer would be there waiting for him. The right words to say that would end them hurting each other once and for all. “I got tired of fighting you. There’s a difference.”

“It doesn’t matter, Luke. The point is, I’m choosing being alone than being with you. Because even though it’s painful, it still makes me happier than you do.”

A humorless smile quirked up in the corner of his lips. “Hey look. Something we finally agree on. I hope you like your bed when it’s empty.”

“Never been warmer. And look,” her hands came to rest softly upon his, causing a shiver to run down his spine, “for what it’s worth, I’m sorry it came down to this.”

He pulled his hands away, shoving them in his pockets. “No you’re not. Because you and I both know that the only way we get over each other is to stop choosing each other. A choice neither of us should have made to begin with.”

“For once, you might be right.” She pushed herself off the couch and strode over to the door. “Goodbye, Luke.”

“Bye,” he whispered as the door clicked shut behind her.
