The state of emergency for BC has been extended to May 14. The air feels a lot lighter as talks of the city slowly attempting to phase in businesses and easing the social restrictions. What does this mean for hairstylists who want to/need to go back to work? What will personal services look like during this on-going global pandemic? For sure it will not just ‘be over’. This could be for a year, maybe even two. . It has been a truly difficult and stressful time for many of us during this global pandemic. My heart goes out to all the family gatherings, birthdays, weddings, trips and graduations that have been affected. Some of our favorite restaurants, stores and companies might not survive this. But one thing is for sure, we as a people will survive. . 2020 does not belong to us. That’s the lesson I’ve had to learn the hard way. Honestly, I haven’t been handling it well. I haven’t been able to think about going back to work. . As much as I want to remain optimistic and hope for my industry to go back to work mid May— I just don’t think it will be realistic. In most populations where restrictions have been eased, personal services are usually the last to be phased in. Ultimately everyone is waiting for provincial health guidelines. In the coming days we will be looking to other countries and provinces for ideas and possibly blueprints for what this new normal will look like. As soon as the ball gets rolling we will figure out what works and what doesn’t. . WELL WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN? I’m not sure. And that is what’s making the thought of transitioning back to work so hard. After 6 weeks I finally feel a little normal being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. THANK YOU to everyone who has reached out. Being on my phone is so difficult right now, everything is just so triggering. In the coming days/weeks we will have to sort out all our schedules and safely try and get some hair done. . So please be patient with your hairstylists. Our industry is going to look very different. Our city is going to look different. All we can do is wait. But it will be worth it. #worththewait #vancityhair #cultsalon (at Cult Salon) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_qBNEcgHnm/?igshid=1trrb2mb96vr7
