question... do you use shapes to draw the turtles' heads or LINES (like breaking each part of their head into shapes or just form their head w lines AM I MAKING SENSE)

I use separate lines.

I start with a box and then go from there.

How I draw their heads Leo Donnie Raph Mikey in that order.

They’re all pretty similar with slight changes.

Ok step one it’s to find good references for the pose you want

I prefer other peoples art over real people. I don’t really know why ig it’s easier for me to actually see what I have to draw. Helps to see how they draw it.

I’ll use this reference

First I like to map out where the head is, the shoulders and wrists, and the knees and ankles. I use a method where I draw a line from one circle to the other. In the middle of that line I draw a perpendicular on and that where the elbow or knee is. It works every time.

I bring it to the side so I 1. Don’t end up tracing and 2. So it’s easier to see what I’m drawing

And then,,,Idk I figure out what pose seems more natural when I draw it.
