उच्चतर शिक्षा की स्थति तो और भी दिलचस्प है | यहाँ सारे ख्यात गुणवत्ता पूर्ण सस्थान सरकार दवरा पोषित है |लेकिन उसमे पढ़ने वाले छात्र धनड्या वर्गों से आते है | ख्यात विश्व विधालय डी.यू , जे .न यू , IIT  , आईआईएम वैगरह इनमे आते है | तीक्ष्ण प्रतिस्पर्धी अंग्रेजी का बोलबाला इन्हे इलीट इंस्टीटूट्स का दर्जा देता है |जिसमे समाज का इलीट तबका पढता है | बस समानता ये है की गुडवत्ता पूर्ण शिक्षा चाहे वो १२ वी तक निजी विद्यालयों में हो या १२ वी के government फंडेड इलीट इंस्टीटूशन में   हो अधिकांशतः  समाज का वही तबका जा सकता है जिसके पास पैसा है |

बाजार की शिक्षा के नियामक के रूप में या कहे की निर्धारक के रूप में उभरना शिक्षण पद्धति को भी बोझिल और बंजर बना देता है | शिक्षण पद्धति ' प्रबोधन ( enlightenment ) पर जोर देने के बजाय कौशल ( स्किल ) पर ज्यादा जोर देने लगती है |विचार की गहराई और व्यापकता के बजाय इसका जोर सीमित अर्थों में उत्पादकता ( प्रोडक्टिविटी ) पर आधारित होता जाता है | विज्ञानं के बजाय तकनीकी ( टेक्नोलॉजी ) ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण होती जाती है |
