In this series of photos, my talented friends and I juxtapose our creative ideas with scenes from the film that ignited my appreciation of fashion, Carmen Jones (1954). A contemporary version of the Bizet opera, with new lyrics and an African-American cast, the film earned two Oscar nominations among other honors.
