I was tagged by @willowflowerwaterlily to answer these OC questions!! Thank you Diane! :-) I’ll answer these for Velwynne since I’ve done a lot of answers about Celeste for stuff like this. 

1. If your inquisitor has a love interest, what initially attracted them to that person?

At first, Velwynne was charmed by how much Solas knew of the Fade. Being a First to the Keeper of her clan, she was always eager to learn and to listen to his stories. While some of his opinions on the manner of the Creators went against what she’d grown up believing, they were always willing to hear each other out. If they couldn’t discuss something to the point of agreeing, they managed to disagree peacefully. Velwynne really admired the fact that he was able to handle her debates when she’d get angry or frustrated (which happens quite frequently, as she has a terrible temper). 

2. What terrifies your inquisitor?

Velwynne’s biggest fear is that, even at her best, she won’t be good enough, strong enough, powerful enough to overcome the obstacles set in her path. She’s always been somewhat obsessed with perfection, with making sure that everything turns out exactly as she’s planned. When her plans are disrupted or even completely ruined, it tends to really fuck with her head until she feels like she’s in control again.  

3. Are there any characters, separate from their love interest that they are particularly close with?

She still keeps in regular correspondence with Keeper Deshanna, always has a great time with Sera, and found a surprisingly close friendship with Vivienne de Fer. Dorian always kept her mind fresh with his theories on magic, especially discussions about his work with Alexius. Though Leliana is by far her closest friend and the one she spends the most time with, especially after the events of Trespasser.

4. If your Inquisitor could go anywhere in all of Thedas, where would they go?

Vel would love to visit some of the bigger libraries in Tevinter, having heard so much about the rare tomes there from Dorian. It would be a great stress relief for her, sitting in a massive library with huge amounts of new knowledge around her to take in, while also giving her an opportunity to learn so much. 

5. What is their least favorite enemy to fight?

Red Templar horrors are absolutely terrifying to her, in addition to the Fear Demons she came across while travelling through the Frostback Basin. Ogres are also very high on her list of things to avoid at all costs.

6. When your Inquisitor is feeling down, how do they perk themselves up, or how do their friends help them out?

If Velwynne is alone when she’s upset, then she’ll usually try some of the meditation that the Keeper taught her when she was younger to control her temper. If Sera is around, they’ll bake cookies together or go pull pranks on Cullen and Josephine. Dorian can always tell when Vel is in a bad mood or has had an especially long day, and he’ll send for new books or get her to talk about her Clan back home.

7. Any special place in Skyhold they like to get away and relax for a while?

The balcony outside of Leliana’s rookery. It’s quiet without being silent, and Leliana does an excellent job of making sure that no one goes out there to find and/or bother the Inquisitor.

8. What does your Inquisitor miss most about home?

The simplicity of life amongst the Dalish. 

9. What judgment was the hardest for your Inquisitor to make?

How to deal with Mistress Poulin, the woman responsible for the Red Templars’ takeover of the quarry in Emprise du Lion. The woman did good with the profits of the sale, but so much life was lost in those quarries. Vel eventually decided to force the woman to make up for all the damage, in addition to pledging a good sum from the Inquisition’s own coffers to help rebuild Sahrnia. 

10. What is your inquisitor’s favourite indulgence?

She absolutely loves any kind of berries mixed with cream. It’s simple enough that it reminds her of her home in the Clan, but sweet enough to feel like a very special treat. Leliana has been known to sprinkle a bit of extra sugar or pour some rum into the cream if she knows that Velwynne has had an especially hard day. 

11, Conversely, what could your inquisitor happily never eat/drink/see/do again?

Drink that horrifying alcohol that the Iron Bull gave her once. She’s never been adverse to drinking, quite enjoys it in fact. But her throat still feels numb sometimes.

12. Does your inquisitor want a pet, other than their mount? What kind?

Vel has a little white fennec fox companion that she saved once when she let loose a stray fireball and the little creature was caught in its path. His name is Da’Assan, which means ‘little arrow’ in Elvhen. He’s notorious for sniffing out patches of elfroot - somehow, he also manages to root out trouble just as well, often slipping out of Velwynne’s pack while travelling and running off in some random direction.
