If we aren’t specific about who our word applies to, the way that LGBTQ is specific, it can and will be used by freaks :(

Then we define it as “Anyone who isn’t cishet.” 

That’s not a huge hurdle to get over. This is literally just a replacement for the word “Queer”. If people who don’t care about whether or not it’s a slur don’t have a problem with using that word as a blanket term now, then why should we have a problem with using a new substitute word that doesn’t have a terrible history around it
