so now that you're caught up on TMA I need to know if you have at any point looked up/seen what the all the voice actors look like? because they run the gamut of 'yeah checks out' to 'what the /actual/ fuck' and I love seeing other people react.

A few. Alex certainly fits my mental image of Martin. Tim DEFINITELY fits, to a disturbing degree.

ok but now I'm rewatching ep 58 and that's where Cad learns that Fjord didn't have family and was raised in an orphanage that treated him bad and you can see Cad hurting for him and it's amazing

YUP DEFINITELY.

But also: I was rewatching the rest of that scene to get to the orphan part and I have a new theory that is utterly consuming me:

Wursh Stone the Tapper.

Wursh makes SUCH an interesting face when Nott tells him Fjord’s name is “Fjord Tough,” an obviously fake-last-name situation. He goes and seeks out Fjord, tells him “Yeah, we got a history. But some of us, we don't let that blood rule us, huh?”

At the time we all took it as a reference to the halforc thing, but. BUT. Even the gesture he makes, claws over the shoulder, makes so much sense in the context of the Menagerie being the sky burial temple.

He says he was intended for an apprenticeship in the north, at “the sanctum” -- aka Kravaraad, The Cinderrest Sanctum, home of the Dusts. But he mentions it so casually, as if it’s something he expects Fjord to recognize. And on top of that, he’s cagey about it in mixed company. To everyone else, he said “left home when I felt an urge to travel south, learn more of my craft.” Only Fjord got the line about the sanctum.

And lest we forget: at this point Matt was already well aware of not only the Clay/Dust/Stone families from Cad’s backstory but also Fjord “Stone” from his backstory.

The main blocker I see is that if Wursh were a Stone, he should be from south Xhorhas rather than the Greying Wildlands. But given that Cad has said it’s expected for the families to do occasional pilgrimages, it seems not impossible that an orc-blood Stone family member could have trekked northward and fallen in with an orc/halforc clan, then tried to send their son northward to Kravaraad in their place.

Unpopular Opinion on [disney animated film of your choice]

Frozen is incredibly generic and bland and if Strange Magic had been as heavily promoted as it had been and Frozen had received the few crumbs of marketing that Strange Magic got, everyone would be singing its praises and Frozen would be trashed by critics everywhere.

Maybe that’s not such a unpopular opinion about Frozen, though. Maybe that’s more about how capitalism owns most critics now.

right, i keep going back to realizing they made three absolutely disgusting choices with the characters that COULD HAVE WORKED if they’d just backed off one of them. we always knew ben had a chance of not making it out alive. that was obvious from tfa. but you cannot THEN make rey a palpatine and give her his arc of redemption and choice, i’m literally going to puke. it makes NO SENSE THEMATICALLY. rey is perfect and gets the love of the skywalkers for NO REASON and they couldn’t be bothered to save their son when they had the power of ALL THE JEDI behind them, im gonna screammmmm. and then to add “rey skywalker” on top of it all. gross. i don’t give a fuck about the name living on without the skywalkers themselves.
