AT MINA’S APARTMENT. WITH @alexhunter.
There wasn’t much that successfully put Mina in a funk like the discussion she had with Alex the other day. Usually, in face of anything life presented her, Mina usually kept a positive outlook, even if it killed her on the inside. The past few days though, it had been hard as her mind was swimming in the various possibilities that conversation (if that could even be called a conversation) could have gone. It still made her feel sickened the abrasive way they chose to sort of reveal to one another that there were lingering feelings between them, some that would never go away, perhaps. She had been close to telling him in a much more orderly fashion when they spent their day in Vancouver, when she saw how happy her father had gotten at his visit and how deep in conversation they seemed while she made them tea. She had been so close to being honest, but backed down when Peter was unavoidably mentioned, and maybe then she realized that Peter’s memory was something that might always get in between them.
She hadn’t expected him to get impatient towards her, mad at the way she had acted. It had been weird, of course, and she had jumped to a conclusion, but what was not to jump? Every time she looked back, she remembered how well that woman fit into his arms, and it made her think that in the hard light of day, it would never work between them and maybe they would never be able to return to being best friends. Doing what they did, after Peter had died, had truly put a dent in their friendship and if Alex wasn’t interested in returning to what they had before, than neither would she... would she?
Chewing on the inside of her lips after she had said her goodbyes to both Ella and Tilly, Mina opened the fridge door to retrieve what it would seem like the 20th pint of Ben&Jerry’s she had eaten since the last time she had seen Alex. Dinner was... undecided, as she wasn’t entirely sure if she was willing to cook for one, or takeout would be the best. The main fact was that she was snuggled in her avocado print pajamas and matching socks, Halloween playing on TV and a mostly empty mind. Her roommates had attempted to get her to come out with them as she rarely had nights off, but truth be told, she really just wanted to enjoy the time she had alone. Her eyebrows dented when she heard the first knocks on the door, and got up, imagining that it might be Tilly or Ella, maybe they left their keys? Forgot something? She didn’t know. Nothing quite prepared her for what she found after opening the door, her eyes went a little wide as she gripped the pint of chocolate fudge a little harder. “Alex? What---- what are you doing here?”
