The Proxies and Fighting Games
Made by a person who doesn't touch fighting games with a 20-ft pole and knows next to nothing about most of them. Obligatory tag for @brrnedoutbrrista bc this is your fault /lh
Also this post is long af.
Gloam - Fighting games aren't her cup of tea, but if you put a gun to her head and forced her to pick, the Touhou spin-offs and Ys vs. Trails (She is a Trails fan.) Absolutely brutal Koishi main in the newer ones, would probably Sakuya in the older ones, maybe also occasionally going for Reisen, Yuyuko, or Aya. YvT Kloe/Renne (insert joke about this here)/Joshua/Mishera player. Refuses to settle with one or two characters because she's experimental and whimsical by nature, but the more unpredictable and flexible the character, the more likely she'll reach for it. Will also pick a character she normally doesn't use for kicks, so long as they fall at least somewhat into her area of comfort, which means the number of characters from any given game she might pick can range from one or two to more than half the cast, and she WILL pick the randomizer button if it's there and the pool of characters she likes playing is large enough. Also really likes characters that have mechanics that are annoying for the opposition to deal with (see: Reisen.) Usually only plays fighting games because another Proxy asks her to play with them, but it happens more than you'd think. If she actually liked the genre, she'd be an absolute nightmare to play against, even if she never plays them in Shifter form on principle. Thank god this bitch plays JRPGs and and rhythm games.
I would list characters she'd toy around with in other games, but then we'd be here all day. Unless y'all want that as a separate post.
Blood Tansy - YOMI Hustle Red Mist mai- -gets nuked to next week- Uhhh probably Castlevania Judgement. I have been informed by reliable sources that she'd probably be a Drac main, so let's go with that. Really, really likes mighty glacier-type characters, especially ones with punish options. Bans Demoness from playing fighting games due to the latter's volatile personality. Is a more avid gamer than you'd expect, but still doesn't play much.
Buddy - Probably an actual YOMI Hustle player, albeit a rather casual one. Cowboy (unmodded)/Black Silence (modded) main. Unlike Gloam, who really likes characters that are unpredictable, flexible, and usually finicky/require people reading + manipulation, he generally prefers close-quarters pressure characters or all-rounders. Touhou Reimu/Youmu/Nitori/Byakuren/Miko player, Ys vs. Trails Lloyd/Geis main. (This is very funny since I do plan on using Mr. Lloyd Bannings himself as a FC for one of his disguises. Lloyd is such an interesting charcter in his home games, I love him. I need to beat those games eventually.)
Sorceress, Hairpin and Commander - Have never touched a video game in their centuries of being alive.
Concealer and King - Not really gamers. Would probably like some games if someone convinced them to play, but fighters probably aren't in that list.
Wayfarer and Aurora - Do play some video games, but aren't too keen on fighters. Aurora, being the younger of the two by a significant margin, is more of an avid player, but like Gloam, she's more of a JRPG person. Aurora has definitely played the Touhou fighting games before, and purely because I need to make the meta joke, she's a Marisa main. (She was originally a Touhou OC, after all, and that version of her is Marisa's familiar.) Wayfarer, on the other hand, I don't really have a pulse on.
Peacekeeper - Played ALL the classic fighting games when he was younger (remember, while he's on the younger end for Proxies, he IS a middle-aged man, but doesn't look the part because of the agelessness,) particularly Mortal Kombat, and was pretty damn good at it. Likes zoners and mid-range characters. CVJ Grant main. More likely to play a character if they have a gun. Incidentally, the only reason he doesn't play fighting games MORE is because he's usually playing a shooter, if he has the time to pick up a game.
Smoke - To the surprise of literally fucking nobody, BlazBlue, P4A, GG, UNIB, the whole nine yards. Actually really likes fighting games, despite how passive he is in combat as a Proxy, and has probably played every single game mentioned in this list at least once. Either mains or plays almost all the protags, but knows his hand around enough characters per game to be flexible, much like Gloam, and like her, he'll also pick up any character that falls within his general comfort zone. Aggressive play style, and has played enough games in the genre to get away with it. Has a stupidly nasty Hyde game, and in the rare instances he DOES pick up one of the Touhou fighters, he's a Mokou/Jo'on/Youmu/Komachi player. Probably DOES also play Kasen, unlike the aforementioned Proxy who shares her last name, which some of you might find very funny. Probably also a Yu/Akihiko/Sho/Shadow Labrys player, ngl.
Spite Posy - Skullgirls and Arcana Heart, with a side of BlazBlue, P4A, GG and UNIB, due to living with Smoke. Picks mains entirely on vibes. Filia/Valentine main in SG, Lieselotte/Weiss/Scharachrot/Dark Heart player in AH. P4A Shabrys/Marie main, easily. Probably also plays Phonon and Hilda. More casual than Smoke or Peacekeeper, but plays more than Gloam or Wiretap. Does suffer because of how she picks her mains, since she doesn't always understand how they work, but doesn't complain about it too much.
Wiretap - Skullgirls Squigly/Parasoul main, BB Rachel main, Touhou Alice/Remilia/Yukari/Doremy main. Doesn't play much, or well, since she's not much of a gamer, but will play with the other Proxies if offered. Likes trap-laying/set-and-play characters.
Hellfire - Picked up games as a hobby due to helping raise Aurora after she was orphaned, to the point where she developed her own taste for them. Probably has played Darkstalkers and CVJ at some point. Probably a femme fatale main, lmao.
Queenpin - She's too busy being the brains behind one of the largest companies in the world to play games all that much. She'd probably be pretty decent if she had the time to learn, though.
Prince - I'm inclined to say that he probably has played fighters, and enjoys them to some extent, but doesn't play them regularly. He strikes me as a BB player. But I can't pin him down on like, exact preferences. Jin main, maybe.
