Day 1 of my Tolkien themed (yeah duh) Inktober- the prompt for today is “Ring” Which was so perfect for my theme that I didn’t even know where to start. So I went back to the beginning. Annatar and Celebrimbor and the conception of the Great Rings.

Blue Fairy Ring Octopus by Tigrette-of-Fire

Happy October!!!!! And more importantly, happy Inktober! I love having an excuse to do art in the middle of the semester - though, I'm gonna be honest, you shouldn't expect me to be any more consistent than I have been in the past. It's midterm season guys, and I'm deeply afraid quantum mechanics will beat me into the ground.

I am, in fact, following the prompt list this year - even with this one, though this one probably deserves some explanation. When I saw Day 1 was "ring," I waffled for a while between drawing a blue ringed octopus (because apparently inktober is just cephalopod time in my house, and also because they're a fun venomous octopus that I love with my whole heart) and drawing a fairy ring (because I like to draw cartoonish mushrooms). Then I realized: this is art! I don't have to pick between the two!

So I smashed the ideas together. I hope you enjoy it!

[Description: an octopus with five of its eight tentacles visible, all wiggling around the mantle of its body. Its mantle is at a 3/4 view, and only one of its eyes is visible to the viewer. Its siphon (a tube shaped organ) is visible below the eye. The octopus's skin is rough in texture. Four bubbles float in a line - the largest at the bottom - above the octopus.
