chat, I promise you that Kon is not getting paid
not from his merch or his tv era or anything. he is not receiving a single penny in universe
lets remember remember Rex Leech. he trademarked the name Superman and the "S" symbol. when Superman came back to life, he was sold the Superman name and symbol back for $1 by Roxy Leech, Rex's daughter who's name the trademark was under
however - a deal was struck
Rex would have to donate half of all money made on Superboy products in order to let Kon keep using the name Superboy and the "S" symbol. that would be any profits on shows and toys and whatever other products made in Superboy's name
I promise y'all that Rex Leech kept half of the money to himself and that what would be Kon's share was donated to charity. that was the kind of shady agent that Rex was. while Superboy may have gotten an initial payout from GBS - he did not see a single cent after that.
he was 16 (2 months) and approached with a media deal. I doubt that he fully understood what he was signing into especially since the company had literally faked a villain attack to get him on board. they were not playing fair, they were money hungry, and I have no doubt that they wrote up a deal that gave them everything and Kon nothing, especially after Superman took them to court
so yeah. I am certain that Kon never saw a single penny from his media star days. if he did, I don't think the Suicide Slums arc would've happened how it did
