#dead space downfall

I've seen both Dead Space Downfall & Aftermath, which gotta say, I was a bit skeptical by how they tackle essentially prequels to both Dead Space 1 & 2 as I was worried they'll drag it with stuff that won't matter to the actual narrative of the universe but to my surprise, they actually really brilliantly showcase the events of the games happening to every other character that isn't Issac Clarke alongside showing how messed up this universe truly is as I was invested in the unsung heroes in these side stories that made me sad they had to go, so yeah that's a testament to say they're really good movies that extends the Dead Space universe brilliantly & recommend it to major Dead Space fans like me as this is probably my favorite survival horror series

Added a few new touches to the Horror props. DIY'ed the hooks and chains coming out of the Hellraiser cube. Added a few alien artifacts including the Dead Space Marker, the Alien skulls and the Alien Hellraiser cube (with Zombie hand). Last, but not least, the Lemarchand Planchette for the Ouija Board.

I was lowkey a bit worried to watch Dead Space Downfall because I’ve only heard bad shit about it.

But bro- this was genuinely so good.

And the ending is just- a perfect transition into the first (2008) game.

But this is a very biased review as Dead Space is my hyper fixation, and I’m also assembling my own personal chronological timeline.

But still- if you were contemplating on whether or not to watch it- I would highly recommend it.👍

Dead Space Downfall was a mostly bland and forgettable movie but if I'll give it credit for anything it's in actually making the necromorphs look scary in 2D animation. That's something that's actually very deceptively difficult to do. Think about Junji Ito's talent for creating genuinely terrifying single images and how much of that is lost when they tried to translate his work to animation. Mostly because animation by necessity can't be as richly detailed as a static image and the excessive detail is what tends to make something scary. That being said while the animation quality in Dead Space Downfall is almost laughably inconsistent (pretty sure the CG environments were just ripped directly from the videogame), they spend the time and effort where it counts and that's on making the necromorphs look absolutely fucking gnarly. Moments like the mostly decapitated Jennifer necromorph rising back to life make me think there's some genuine talent for creating striking horror imagery on this creative team and I'd love to see what they could do given a serious budget and a bigger canvas.

Never watch the Dead Space movie on plex unless you want to see a cg purple llama ad right after a necromorph just killed someone

Basically, Weller, McNeil, and Lexine leave right when the Kellion arrives. But before that, the team from Downfall is on the other side of the Ishimura fighting necromorphs and they all eventually die until it's just the captain of the team left (I forgot their names because I saw the movie like two years ago) and she sends a message out for help. To which the Kellion arrives.

So, the team in Downfall (TDF) are sent to investigate what the fuck is going on in the Ishimura moments before the outbreak. While they do that, McNeil Weller, and Lexine are blasting their way through the Colony to try and find a way to get to the Ishimura. When they finally make it aboard, TDF are being killed until there's only like, three left. The Extraction team are now trying to find a way off the Ishimura after finding out it's the same as the Colony. Meanwhile, TDF are pretty much dead until it's the captain left who's stuck with the Marker. She sends out a desperate call for help to anybody near by. The Kellion (Issac's team) receives it, but the video is just static. So they have no idea about what's happening (other than Kendra). This is around the time Nicole kills herself and sends that video to Issac, causing him to volunteer to go. Once they finally make it to the Ishimura, the Extraction team finally head off from the Ishimura and to the Sprawl while Lexine tries to radio the Kellion to stay away. But obviously, that didn't work.

So began Dead Space the first game with Isaac Clarke.
