Ch195 (p3), The snakes intervene
Doll wraps up her little story that totally leaves out her death... and asks where Snake has been all this time. Snake starts to explain what happened after he left the circus, but his snakes stop him.
One snake actually physically stops Snake from speaking further by shoving itself into Snake's mouth for a moment. Then Snake is reminded that Smile and the others are still wanted by the authorities... Wordsworth being given the credit for this reminder, though Snake is slightly unsure about it. I guess Wordsworth is still in hiding in his clothes? 🤷🏻♀️ I think Wilde is the one who shoved himself into Snake's mouth, but I'm not sure.
Then Wilde, Emily, and Keats join in to confuse Snake with opposing views regarding what to do. Wilde and Keats agree with Wordsworth that Snake should keep this a secret, while Emily (who calls Doll "he/him") says Snake can trust Doll to help.
It's interesting to note that even when the snakes communicate to Snake, he must be mumbling their words to himself, mentioning them by name, just like when he speaks to others using their words. Finny doesn't know what the snakes are saying but might get the gist of them stopping Snake from talking, and he's also trying to stop Snake from telling Doll about joining the Phantomhive household.
Then the conversation switches over to all the noise in another part of the kitchens.

Isn't This Nice? by lolo313
Author summary:
Stiles and Scott have been best friends forever, and things couldn't be better--but an exchange of gifts one holiday season changes everything.
Reasons to love the fic: Loving Stiles pov? One of my many kryptonites. This one is so loving, too. You can really feel how their lives have just always slotted together in this fic and that their kiss is just a natural conclusion to it.
In the fic, Scott says: “I’m trying to remember why I didn’t before, but I can’t.”
The whole fic feels like that. Perfect. I also love the thoughtful portrayal of both holidays being celebrated.
As always, be sure to let the author know if you enjoyed the fic!
Ch195 (p1), Cover and title pages
I have to wonder if the "stardust" she's surrounded by is a slight reference to Blavat calling the lower magnitude stars "stardust". Most of the kids at the orphanage would count as that, or at least half of them.
Oh, and Tomo Kimura is definitely still the translator, and he's still having Snake call Doll "he". I'm wondering why Kimura has stuck to that. Perhaps Snake and his snakes really don't know Doll's a girl and just assume Doll to be a boy. 🤔 But Doll hasn't corrected Snake.

i pass by the intersection again. there are still flowers on the corner. i try to go thirty five on the street outside my house though i forget sometimes because it seems like theres always some place to be. nothing feels real except when i'm exhausted coming home from somewhere.
there was a teddy bear and a date on the hill just down the road from my old neighborhood. i wanted to clamber through the nettle to gaze at it every time we walked down to the public library. i saw that teddy bear from when we moved in to when we moved out and never once remembered the date it cradled to its careful stitches. i still dont know it. but i can trace the shape of the numbers through the image in my mind, the dark carve of them in the glittering southern sun. back then i saw the art of them all, the bears on hills and flowers on street corners and sneakers on telephone wires, they sketched deja vu into my childhood and i never once flinched when we raced past them, a little fast, we always were a little late to where we needed to be.
