(While they could share POV's during the Prologue, there could also be a third decoy protagonist we follow who, at the end of the Prologue, tries to rebel against the mascot only to be killed, leading to the POV switch.)

I like tropes that explore a character's sense of self, and it's always interesting to have a character piece together information that they didn't even know about themselves, and in this specific scenario have to wrestle with whether who they were pre-amnesia is part of who they still are
One of my favorite tropes in stories is the decoy protagonist because they trick you for the first episode or chapter before a new character is revealed to be the actual protagonist.

A character is forced to undergo a magical (generally, depending on your genre) transformation, generally into a sort of animal or monster (but human or same-species, object, or other also counts!)
Characters get hit with a spell, Curse, or Transformation Ray, causing an instantaneous and involuntary transformation until they can revert

A character with multiple forms is bound for some tough questions about their identity, even more so when they don't have a choice in the matter. What they think of themselves and how they navigate the world are central topics that are fun and complex to explore. Transformation is also extremely cool, and should happen as often as possible.
