not sure what exactly is up with my neighbours but they just finished playing the mexican national anthem (schoolchildren version) at stadium volume and immediately followed it with linkin park's in the end so now i'm lying here like. it is 00:05 am Are They Okay

Anyone  have Del Rancho on their list of regular eateries? I’ve lived here for almost my entire life, and I can truthfully say I’ve never visited the place. Doing some research, (since, you know, I have time on my hands), I discovered it’s an Oklahoma (almost an OKC) exclusive. It began as The Ranch House in 1959 and adopted “Del Rancho” as the name when store number two opened in Del City two years later.  Their signature steak sandwich debuted in 1964--local legend has it the idea for it came to the owner, JR Holt,  in a dream.  Eventually, they mushroomed all over the metro area, with most of them being owned by the original family. In 2005 they tried to expand to Texas, but the current website indicates those locations didn’t last.  The original location at 3300 S Western is now closed, but the Norman franchise (bottom photo) is alive and well, as are several other locations.  The sad, dead one pictured is at 59th and Agnew in OKC.  It actually shuttered up  just couple of months ago. I can’t believe it lasted as long as it did given the location.  The entire block is derelict waste land.  It makes me sad, as that was close to my stomping ground back in the day.

If you've never had Del Rancho, you just don't understand.

And yes, I went off being vegetarian while I was home.  Like I said, if you've never had a Steak Sandwich Supreme from Del Rancho, you just don't understand.

This is what I ate for dinner last night. I only have this thing, what, once, twice a year? It's a chicken fried steak sandwich for those that may scratch your head when you see it. The commercial for the place (Del Rancho) brags that "THE MEAT HANGS OVER THE BUN". There is lettuce, tomato and mayonaise underneath the meat. Well, judge for yourself.
