Up early to shoot 7-19 West 29th Street. My great-grand uncle (think I’ve got that right) bought 17 (center row) in 1912. Johns Hopkins University bought these buildings over a decade ago and just let them fall apart. They will be demolished this week with no plan to replace them with anything, yet. Such a waste. They have major construction happening on campus just a block away. I’m sure they could’ve found some funds to renovate and create housing, but they opted to let them rot. Typical. What a waste. This place has been vacant for over ten years and caught fire a week ago. It burned for 22 hours. I photographed it twice in 2012 with the 4x5. I hope to photograph it again this weekend, weather permitting.
