Transvision Vamp tour tickets go on sale
Tickets are now on sale for the first Australian tour in 27 years by UK rockers Transvision Vamp.
The British group, led by the indominable Wendy James, last toured the country in 1991.
The band will visit seven Australian cities in February 2026, with tickets now available after last week’s tour announcement.
‘Enormous success, love and fun’
Kicking off in Brisbane on 12 February 2026, the hotly anticipated tour will hurtle through the Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide before winding up in Perth on 21 February.
On social media, James also hinted at the possibility of shows across the ditch in New Zealand.
In a statement released by concert and event promoter Destroy All Lines, James expressed her excitement at coming Down Under.
”I am so excited to be coming back to Australia to play the songs which started my whole musical journey!” James enthused.
“I remember vividly so many moments across Australia, moments of enormous success, enormous love and enormous fun,” she said.
“I’m bringing with me a set full of music that will thrill and musicians who will amaze!” she promised.

Big Down Under
Transvision Vamp, which formed in 1986, were cultural juggernauts of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
James, in particular, was a source of public fascination and media interest for her heady mix of talent, looks, intelligence and provocative statements.
That and the band’s pop/punk crossover appeal led to several years of major chart success and wildly successful concert tours.
The band enjoyed three hit albums in Australia, including two Platinum records, Pop Art and Velveteen.
Among their hit singles were ‘I Want Your Love’, ‘Baby I Don’t Care’ and ‘(I Just Wanna) B With U’.
The group disbanded in the early 1990s, with James then releasing a string of critically acclaimed solo albums under her own name and the moniker Racine.
She also worked extensively as a DJ across the world, including here in Australia.
Transvision Vamp reformed this year, with two original members: James and bass player/backing vocalist Dave Parsons.
Two new members are also on board: Alex Ward, known for his work with Thurston Moore, and James Sclavunos from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Queer icon
Queer fans have been among the most enthusiastic Wendy James and Transvision Vamp fans.
James’ sex-positive image, messages of female empowerment and freedom from gendered constraints endeared her to LGBTQ+ audiences.
Gay television presenter and music industry icon Molly Meldrum was a huge fan, interviewing James several times on the top-rating Hey Hey It’s Saturday.
On one memorable episode, James squished an oversized cream cake into Meldrum’s face in light-hearted revenge for peddling gossip about her.

In the mid-1990s, drag queen Chrissy Amphetamine – best-known for performing as late Divinyls frontwoman Chrissy Amphlett – did a Wendy James tribute act at Queensland queer venues.
In 2005, a rendition of ‘I Want Your Love’ by female cover band The Frocks closed out that year’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras fundraiser Sleaze Ball.
Tickets selling fast
If you want to see Wendy James and Transvision Vamp, you’ll need to act fast, with tickets selling like hotcakes.
The Brisbane concert has already sold out, with other shows marked as ‘selling fast’.
