Written for the final day of Birdflash week: “Anything goes!”
I had so much fun each day for this event! I was able to kick my writers’ block in the ass, I made some great friends along the way and I was able to give back to the Birdflash community.
I’m gifting this fic to everyone in the Birdflash-week discord chat as well as everyone who has been supportive and encouraging along the road; be it through likes, kudos, reblogs and comments. <3
Dick’s senses slowly came back one at a time.
His ears were ringing, the faint sound of the steam coming out of the engine only slightly audible. Every part of his body screamed in pain; he could feel something drip on his face. His nose felt cold and hot at the same time; Dick guessed it was broken. He could feel bruises forming along his chest and suspected that it was due to the seatbelt that was keeping him still. The young man’s thoughts were fuzzy; he felt as if he had been spinning in circles and decided to try to remain on a headstand for as long as he could. His stomach churned, and he wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he had puked his breakfast. The back of his mind suggested he goes to sleep so he could forget the pain and leave the mystery to be solved later, but instead, Dick forced his eyes to peel open.
It took a couple of blinks for him to get rid of the blurs and make sense of where he was. The first thing he noticed was the airbag deflating, the very cracked windshield and how his body was being held upside down. Dick attempted to take a breath in, which sent him into a small coughing fit. The memory of the accident suddenly came back to him as he looked at the blood dripping from his hair to what used to be the roof of the car.
“Wall-,” his voice was hoarse and rattled against his throat. Turning his head slowly felt like torture, the whiplash sending stinging signals to the brain.
Check out my new Birdflash fic: https://archiveofourown.org/works/19338202 ! I wrote it real quick for DickWally Week 2019 because I couldn’t help myself when I saw the prompt. 🥰

“What are you doing here, FREAK?”
It was the same old thing at every school Wally West went to. The football team would take one look at Wally’s thin figure, dorky glasses and ruby red hair and decide that he would be their next target. Wally had only been at Gotham City High for only 2 days before the quarterback, Jake Rozen, decided the redhead needed a new makeover. It was like clockwork, really.
“Hey---,” Wally tried to get out before being shoved into his locker by the large, brunette man.
“Did I say you could speak?” the jock spat in Wally’s face as he grabbed ahold of Wally’s used school uniform and lifted him off the ground. There were two others keeping an eye out for teachers; however, the students seemed to pretend like nothing was happening at all.
“I mean technically you----”
“I SAID SHUT UP!” Jake screamed. Wally swallowed and figured it was in his best interest to stay silent, at least for awhile.
Now Announcing: #dickwallyweek2019 - June 23rd to June 30th!
Why? Because Why Not. Let’s show our boys some love and create some content while we’re at it. Artists, writers, and creators of all kinds are welcome!
How It Works: For the most part, this will be a standard fandom event, but we are adding something extra this time. Starting on June 16th and lasting through the end of the event, we’ll be hosting creative sprints on the birdflash discord (invitations will be provided) to help get the juices flowing. Sprints will last one hour each, and though we don’t have a finite schedule for them just yet, expect at least one a day for the duration of the two weeks.
Of course, you’re not required to participate in the sprints to take part in this event! We welcome all content created at any time, as long as it’s published during that week and tagged #dickwallyweek2019
Prompts: There will be seven situational prompts, one for each day of the week, with June 30th (the eighth day) being a free-for-all. In addition we’ll have fourteen word prompts to use as inspiration during the creative sprints. As always, prompts are meant to be guidelines rather than hard fast rules; don’t be afraid to go off-script and create something totally different!

So get voting, and we hope to see you soon!
Rules and restrictions under the cut
Since the sprints make this a more interactive event than some other fan weeks, we want to keep this safe and fun. As such ...
Please keep NSFW content to a minimum. We won’t ban it outright, but be mindful of the fact that there will likely be minors present
Portrayals of pedophilia, abuse, and incest are strictly prohibited. Yes, this includes batsibling ships. Adopted family is still family.
Be kind. We’re all here to have fun. Don’t tear each other down for whatever reasons. Don’t give constructive criticism unless it’s asked for.
All versions of the ship are welcome! Comics, Young Justice, that funky little Batman cartoon I can’t remember the name of. We’re here for any iteration of Dick and Wally
