Just to make Bernard suffer a little and prevent him from having a normal life.

One of the possible reasons why Dionysus's gifts will manifest in Bernard without him being sacrificed is because he's a descendant of Dionysus and Ariadne's legacy. Dionysus realizes this because some of Bernard's blood splattered on the altar of the cult.

So now Bernard has a god who proclaims himself his grandfather, who gives him gifts/powers that he doesn't fully know how to control and demands that he have offspring so that his and Ariadne's legacy continues.

in which Tim is kind of literally Dionysus!Bernard's heart and now has to take care of himself as a result.

AU: Dionysus! Bernard sees Tim as his Ariadne

Robin arrived late and they sacrificed Bernard, seeing his body, his chest open and bloody, Robin went crazy and beat those who did that to Bernard. However, Bernard stood up, and when Tim looked at him, vines growing around him, his eyes took on a wine-like hue and for some reason Bernard spoke fluent Greek, the ritual worked, Dionysus entered Bernard's body.

The vines squeezed the bodies of the cult members, Robin barely escaped. For the last month, Bernard or Dionysus? has caused chaos in Gotham City. Driving people crazy, turning water into wine, growing vines on buildings, and stealing a panther from the zoo.

He also started wearing red or purple clothes (even leopard print) and having his chest exposed, revealing the scar on his chest (and Robin is definitely just looking at the scar, nothing more).

Batman and Robin tried to stop him and it ended with them trapped in vines. Dionysus/Bernard unmasked both, luckily there was no one else. When he unmasked Robin and saw Tim's face, he stared, held her chin and whispered the name "Ariadne", and then hugged Tim telling him that he misses her so much and Tim doesn't know how to react.

Tim managed to convince him to let them go and go with them to the Batcave, there he realized that, like Two-Face, sometimes Bernard had moments of lucidity and it was him and other times Dionysus took control.

Dionysus continued calling Tim "Ariadne" and referring to him as his wife, Tim tried to correct him many times but to no avail. Dionysus told him about his brothers, Apollo and Hermes. He also commented that Bruce reminds him of his uncle Hades.

For everyone, Dionysus was very hostile, moody and as sarcastic as a Greek god can be. He even threatened to kill everyone in the Batcave or turn them into some animal or plant (which made Jason and Damian almost attack him). But with Tim he was calm, passive, even very attentive and affectionate. Although he was also too territorial.

Tim doesn't know how to feel when a Greek god in his crush's body treats him like his wife.

They will definitely call Zatanna to see if she can fix this problem.

Dionysus Bernard should just slightly warp people's perception of reality instead of wearing a mask. I can't find it right now but I once read a myth about Dionysus (I think it may have been bacchae of Euripides but I'm not sure) and there was a part where Dionysus was kind of letting this guy see his true self but not and his perception was slowly getting warped and I think it'd be really cool if Bernard could do something similar.

Like he could just slightly alter your perception so he looks slightly different every time you look at him head on or out of the corner of your eye. Sometimes he has freckles, sometimes he doesn't. Are those tattoos? You're not sure. What color was his hair again? Brown? Blond?

He wouldn't even need to wear a full face mask, just slap a hood and a domino on. Also imaging a bunch of criminals getting sent to the hospital for hallucinations and delusions claiming they were attacked by a giant snake or a bull and the batfam investigate believing its a fear gas knock off, new strain of pollen, but it turns out to be a whole new player

Give it a certain range though as a draw back, have to look at him from a distance to see anything real... like with a camera :)

Thinking of dionysus!bernard where every once in a while there is a hint of purple in bern's eyes, bern trying to keep control. Or dio coming out and tim having to deal eith it or negotiate "gosh darn it dionysus get out of my boyfriend!" They both know its a thing that happens and bern is always apologetic while tim has to covince him its okay. This is a normal occurrance and tim has accepted him fate of having to powerlessly watch dio mess around. Dio interupting lunch as bern starts to become more agressive with his food. A possesive episode happening in front of the batfam and tim's exhasperarion being how they find out. Bern's hug tightening as he presses himself closer and closer to tim's skin as the purple gleam in his eyes flicker when they are chilling on the couch, Dio refering to tim occassionally as ariadne. Bern being strongly drawn to wine, dio being able to command (put them in a trance) and drive ppl to madness when possessing bern but leaves tim be because he likes him or is influnced by bern's neurological love of tim etc etc do you get my vision?
