Just a lil Dirk Angst
I would never suggest a terribly angsty Dirk death scene because Dirk is Not Allowed to die, it's not just my opinion, it's the law. But if there was one I think this is what it would look like justsaying
Dirk and Farah friendship <3 This happens nearly every case and Farah explains over and over to him that his welfare is more important than solving the case But when he's hurt he reverts to Blackwing Ways Of Thinking, in which passing the test is the only thing that gets him even the slightest approval - which is as close as he can get to ...not love exactly, but something that for once, isn't disappointment and anger and contempt.
It's so rare and novel that he actually does something right, that they approve of, that he still clings desperately to it
Farah sees it in his eyes. When he's bleeding all over the floor - again - and looking up at her with such yearning hope in his eyes
I did something right...I solved the case... are you proud of me? I was good, wasn't I?
And she can't bear it. She hates Blackwing so much in those moments she can hardly breathe, and focusing on the first aid aspect is the only thing she can do to block out the anger she feels.
Blackwing made her friend feel like he doesn't matter, and that is unacceptable. He might even die because of it, but not if she can damn well help it.
So even after the crisis is over, she makes a special effort to give him encouragement when he succeeds and when he fails ("You tried your best and it was a great idea, we just need to try it from another angle..." ) in the hope that over time, Dirk will feel valued all the time and not think he's only worth something when he solves a case.
