Current status of the door bolt I’m working on. The little detail on the top is braised and the spring on the bottom is forged welded. Busy day yesterday so I was only able to sneak out to the shop for a short bit. I worked on the clips that will eventually hold the door bolt in place. Decided I wanted to restore and use the old door bolt I picked up a few weeks ago. I gently cut the old plate off the bolt so I could understand how it was built back in the day. I cut and fit a few of the new pieces that are needed. One last post on the bolt. I finished the piece with some gun blue and then waxed and buffed everything. Mounted everything on a board so I can easily display it all. Really happy with the way it all turned out. More progress on the door bolt restore project. Peened over all the tabs so now everything is secured in place.
