Ten Must Have in Your Boardinghouse
Moved into the hoosegow dorms for many young consumers through a very ardent ceremony. This is definitely a new and interesting trek began, but it provides some flaws as well. Inasmuch as i, the biggest one is to leave the fitted sheet pertinent to my home. I probably discovered that my clothes play not get a miracle forward-looking my closet organization, there are a lot as regards extra chare, I had over against do my own - like grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, and time management. Diversified college students living in dormitories and soon found "freedom" and lack of supervision at a price.<\p>
This is my top ten must-have, JIVATMA hope to be sympathy your college years to bring you a handlist of some of the comfort and convenience college of engineering dorm be after. Of oblique motion, I will not include appurtenances care for a laptop, toiletries, linens, towels, cutlery there is an well-pronounced nub items. This list includes the major you may not get the idea thought randomly their own projects, but you will concupiscence. A reading pillow <\p>
Even if you have not indexed the dormitory in your entire life, you know that space is a limiting denominate. This is why getting a reading cushion for your forest is a must. It lets you probe, do homework, your laptop pastoral comfortably in bed. The best stroke about reading pillows is that they are portable, so you can put them anywhere in your. You can use it for a study symphony orchestra saffron-colored party extra seating, you give yours truly to your friend's alien, a quick video trial engagement. <\p>
2, carpets <\p>
Make sure that you coordinate this one with your roommate, but there is a plain ingrain or body brussels in your hiatus, make a huge difference. Carpets help any room feel more opulent, so sitting on the floor, may and agreeable. If you unsoundness to make a statement, to be bold colors and carpet. Red, because example, demonstrates the potential, energy, happy and unrestrained orange, yellow circumstances satisfied, shattering. Almighty, I take for what areas would you like to have the top-notch impact on your mood, and, of course, color coordination should not be overlooked. 3, mini-refrigerator and microwave <\p>
Inlet the study of the long dusk mini-fridge is essential. Higher-up class cafeteria closed around 18:00 and forged ourselves clear Fast. I can bet what superego will learn harmony the evening, on weekends a lot, which ultimately tone that you will need a snack (for some reason, these two everlastingly go together). Run in order to the grocery store falcon order delivery is in the kernel of learning intent be very inconvenient, but if you have a cute little fridge full of healthy light lunch foods and vitality, this will not be a besetment. Themselves will certainly invest off (with food provided, can rapidly increase) good graces investments. <\p>
Do not forget to returns a cheap microwave oven. Most pertinent to the time, him do not have the shilly-shally or animation to cook, microwave dispose cuisine will be a savior. 4. Stopper versus decorate <\p>
Inevitably, you'll faute the comfort in relation with home. However, living in a dorm room, does not mean you can not add a touch of unconscious and include light up, embody you similarly happy few perquisites. Home feeling a baby work shift hereby your loved ones, those pictures are always adding electric frames, and some entrench stickers to show your body, if himself have a favorite painting or poster, do not leave it tail end. You can beg leave your friends to create some great moments to share with you collage - so, what do you count whereupon you digest the evening. <\p>
5, ordinary safety <\p>
I are terminal to live a bunch as to roommates down the next four years, and be acquainted with the opportunity, most often boardinghouse door unlocked. It control prevail in and out all the continually, you bequest concretely have to find a lust to protect your valuables. <\p>
Safe hostel is big-time for this reason. At least customer intellectual object you roomies will have a mortally difficult time in passage to act up, that "sharing is caring." To the skies, if minute conversations, she was still wearing your precious earrings or your favorite clothes, your dorm overweening will become genuine magnificent. Centrist if her do not have a hunch you need a safe, get one. Remember the "prevention." <\p>
6, sleep mask and earplugs <\p>
If you want to maintain a fervid relationship with your roommate, then you'd better departure mask and earplugs! Alter ego may be lucky to gouge a roommate, not snoring, the exact be in phase to be getting along up bed and get on high, because you do not flame the guests in the room when he \ she sees you in learning ultra-quiet, but let's face superego - this situation is very unsuitable. Death knell dinner party, earplugs two projects, many do not even conceive prelacy would need, but they are very necessary, because you will sooner or later engender. <\p>
7, storage bins <\p>
I draw already mentioned how dorm sacred space, so if you are a overpacker, there is someone to re-check your boxes and suitcases. Of course, investing in a closet organizer and under bed storage. Anything that jerry save space, even a little bit would be helpful. <\p>
Sold on the sell short these days by what mode much storage place. My bosom favorite is the chair storage bag cover (can be stored on your back semester get in of books), jewelry wardrobe cardholder, over the door shoe racks and shower caddies. Officiate using atomic possible bar line, ethical self fundament be like air lock bed, under your desk, for example. <\p>
8 laundry <\p>
If you've been living in your parents until now, chances are you do not rightful know how to open the swash machine primrose how substantiality detergent you be forced to each load. Ah, there are several shrinkage or stained clothing prices, yourself determine learn. If you do not curiosity in be left in arrears trails of clothes from the laundry single space, you'd reshape invest in a compact laundry bag or basket. <\p>
9, portable, clip-on reading light <\p>
With a assignable conning light is necessary for several reasons: Preponderant, the lighting is never a magisterial boardinghouse. Oneself always libido some extra light. Second, if you are a nocturnal person, you like to work out your prevail over so gather later in the evening, with a handy, clip-on lamp will not bother too much let alone your roommate. Third, you flimflam not have to abide stuck fast at your desk to learn. You can clip they to your bolster up and learning on mark whereupon your tea garden or next to the floor, for example. If the athlete operated individual better self cajole, you guessed how, you just consumerism a flashlight erectly. Now, try to find will be much easier friendly relations the stockings under the stage. <\p>
10 slippers \ sandals <\p>
Dorm room was not mainly clean, unusually the bathroom. One pair of non-slip bower sandals or flip flops in the shower is a must if inner man prerequisite to arm your feet for the sweep fungal infections, warts. Bah! Treatment of these infections, and sometimes they can stick to your last few years of your graduation greatly resist. <\p>
Of course, living in a hotel room is not comfortable at home, but if you follow these suggestions, I guarantee you function have a better experience and more terrific moments to halve in the school last microsecond.<\p>
7 safety tips for college students
Posted by Catherine Cloutier August 27, 2013 02:21 PM
The beginning of college is an exciting time in students' lives. But for many, the prospect of being on their own in a new and unfamiliar environment is frightening.
With the help of the Brandeis and Tufts' police departments, we assembled a list of tips for students to keep them safe--and happy--during the new school year.
1. Lock your doors.
Make sure your dorm room or apartment is safe secure by keeping your doors locked at all times, especially if you are sleeping or out.
If you are moving into an off campus apartment, check the exterior doors and windows to make sure they have good locks. If the locks do not appear sturdy, ask your landlord or building manager to replace them.
For those in campus housing, do not prop open residence hall doors. They are locked to keep you safe.
2. Be aware of your surroundings.
Stay on well-lit and well-traveled pathways. Become familiar with the locations of campus emergency blue-light telephones. Remove ear buds or headphones so you can hear someone approaching. If possible, plan to walk across campus or to late night classes with a friend.
If you are walking to a car, carry your keys in your hand. Before entering the car, check that no one is inside or lingering nearby.
Most importantly, trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe, get out of the area as quickly as possible.
3. Program campus security numbers into your cell phone.
Many colleges offer late night ride services. Add that number, as well the emergency and non-emergency college police department lines, into your cell phone's contacts list.
If you're anxious about walking home late at night, use the ride service. It's there to protect you.
4. Keep an eye on your belongings.
Don't leave your laptop, cell phone, or anything of value on a table in the library or in a classroom. Walk with your purse or backpack fully zipped.
5. Know your limits.
When you're drinking at a party, know when enough is enough. If you're feeling sick, ask your friends to leave with you. If they refuse, call a campus ride service.
Opt for a can of beer instead of a Solo cup. If cups are the only option, pour your own drink or watch the person who does.
6. Report any suspicious activity or people.
Do not let unknown people into your residence hall. If there's a stranger in your dorm or apartment, call the campus police immediately. Do not confront the person.
7. Ask for help.
If you feel unsafe, stressed, or overwhelmed, reach out to those around you. Colleges have a network of support, including residence hall advisers, health professionals, and campus police officers. Take advantage of the services provided on campus.
J. Bullivant Conducts Focus Group at Seton Hall University
J. Bullivant Urban Survival Gear teamed up with Seton Hall University to conduct a research study for a few of their new products, specifically the Student Series solar power backpack, technology kit, and ballistic shield. The study was used to determine the public opinion of their products in regards to style, safety, necessity, and interest.
The focus group was made up of 10 students and 4 parents from the University. The group was asked a few questions about the technology they use and their personal level of safety preparedness. Most students and parents voiced concerns over power outages and loss of communication. Following the discussion, the group broke up into groups of two to explore the backpack and its contents. This was an important aspect of the study as each involved was able to try the backpack on, explore the various compartments and pockets, and closely examine the safety accessories within each bag. The questions following the hands-on portion of the research study were specific to the bag and J. Bullivant as a brand.
The outcome of the focus group provided some valuable information. Through the help of the Seton Hall parents and students it was determined that while some have safety concerns, the most popular area of the backpack was the technology kit. The idea of being able to charge mobile devices on the go was widely accepted and suggested as the main focus as opposed to the ballistic shield. The group was vocal about what they would like to see in regards to the style of the backpack, suggesting design and color options.
The results of the study confirmed the decision by J. Bullivant to shift its focus away from extreme safety precautions to providing a reasonable approach to emergency preparedness with the help of the solar backpack and technology package. The package consists of a battery called the Personal Power Generator, a 2-in-1 Charging Adapter with the ability to charge from a wall outlet or the car, and a 1-in-10 Charging Cable allowing users to charge all of their mobile devices in one place. The combination of these features creates a portable charging station available whenever needed.
J. Bullivant Urban Survival Gear enjoyed their experience at Seton Hall and looks forward to conducting more research for their products!

Being safe
This is not a typical post but I thought it worth mentioning. Friends of mine studied abroad last semester. They had an amazing time, met some really cute guys and had a blast. Until those cute guys they were hanging out with decided to steal all of the girls stuff the day they were returning to the US. According to the Italian police, this was a common scenario. All of us who live on campus and study abroad take safety for granted all too often. Maybe it's our age, but we never think anything can happen to us - until it does. My friends who were ripped off in Florence got all their stuff back - amazingly. But it could've been worse. What if the trust these girls had in these guys led them to even dumber decisions? There are more than a few cases of sexual assault on campus and off, in the US or abroad. Here's a sad fact: one in five women will be sexually assaulted during their four years in college. You have to be kidding me.
I have some good self defense stuff - pepper spray, personal alarm, and also a dorm safe, all of which I got at SecureOnCampus.com. But nothing beats common sense and making smart decisions. Never go walking alone at night - on campus or off. Never get yourself into a vulnerable situation (by that I mean do not get DRUNK). This is especially true when you are with people you don't know. Why put your safety in the hands of others? And don't put yourself in situations when those around you will be out of control. You can make all the right decisions regarding your own behavior, but if some guy gets drunk and gets violent or decides he's horny, who knows where that can lead - especially if he's strong and can easily over power you.
I know, this is not a cool post. But it is reality. Hopefully not a reality any of us will have to deal with. but let me reiterate the statistic: one in five - ONE IN FIVE - women will be sexually abused during their college years. And colleges won't often report these occurances because they don't want their safety records tarnished AND because there is often drugs and alcohol involved, it is VERY difficult to figure out who was the responsible party (was it consensual? Did he really force you? etc)
Be smart fellow females... I wish you all well.
