I fell in love with RDR2 all over again
I will admit, I was getting a little bored and nervous with rdr2. I am in ch 4, right before we go kill Bronte, and I knew that things started really sliding from there. I decided not to do much exploring since I found it took away the magic of going to a new area and camp with each chapter. I’ve been filling my rdr2 time with side missions and grinding, and I’m currently doing “A Bright Bouncing Boy.” I headed up north to Doverhill and wow...
Roanoke Ridge and Valley?
It was so peaceful and calm and quiet. I felt like I was home despite never having traveled there before. It was like I was meant to stay there forever.
I crested the ridge around noon, the sun making everything glow. I took pictures and just stopped and stared for a long time. I felt like a whole new person - like the sun was baptizing me in all of its glory.
I got to a river in the valley at dusk, and the golden sunshine was cutting through the trees, casting big shadows everywhere. Deer and elk and rabbits would glow gold for an instant before darting into a shadow again. I went fishing with the water sparkling in the sunset and fell asleep under the stars.
Going up to Doverhill was different. A massive thunderstorm came in that is still currently happening. I felt the wet and the cold and the stillness of the forest as the animals all went and hid. It made going up to the lab that more intimidating.
I just sat in my tent for a while, reading the journal and reminiscing on everything I had done as the rain pounded down and lightning pierced the sky, thunder following immediately.
All along the way, I could see little creatures running here and there, deer running far out in front of me, hear elk bugle, birds chirp, all the sounds of nature. I even found some new plants and a dreamcatcher.
If I could, I’d build a cabin right there in the woods and spend the rest of the game just hunting and fishing and enjoying the beauty of Roanoke.
I really did fall in love with this game all over again.
