Queen, Dragon Boy, Little Johnny, Ghostblade x reader
Summary: Small moments with them before the hero ranking tournament
a/n: Managed to get the writer's block somewhat knocked out of me for this
Queen
“You doing alright?” You sidle up to the number two hero who’s staring off into the distance of the tournament arena, nudging her with your shoulder.
“I’m fine.” Poised as ever, or so she appears.
“Nervous?” The past two ranking tournaments haven’t exactly played out in her favor, especially the last time she faced this X. You still remember holding her at what may have been her lowest point.
“A little perhaps.” Her hand clenches into a fist at her side but lets up once you wrap your hands around hers.
“I’m sure you’ll do great.” You give your best reassuring smile. “And I’ll be there even if things don’t turn out the way you want.”
“Thank you.” She finally turns to face you, yellow irises softening.
“And for good luck.” You lean over to plant a kiss on her cheek, knocking her into a different kind of nervous, and pride swells in your chest at seeing the faint red on her cheeks.
Dragon Boy
“Ready?” Your face pops into view above Dragon Boy as he lays on the platform meant to transport him into the arena.
“Ready to win.” He sends you a sharp-toothed smile, sitting up as you kneel down beside him.
“Think you can beat X?”
“Are you doubting me?” You roll your eyes, just thinking about how the last time he faced X had him landing in the river and returning to you sopping wet. Now’s not the time to bring that up though.
Hooking a finger under his collar, you bring him into a kiss just to get him to shut up. His hand on the back of your head keeps you close. Just as you feel his tongue push into your mouth, the buzzer signaling the start of the tournament sounds. You manage to pry yourself away despite him not letting up at all.
“Aw, you're no fun." He receives a light hit to the shoulder for sass.
“I’m not having this platform sent out there while you’re still sucking my face off.” You get to your feet and hurry off, hearing him call out after you.
“You better be cheering for me!”
Little Johnny
You don’t think you’ve ever seen your boyfriend so laser focused. He doesn’t seem to be paying any mind to his son jumping around excitedly in his lap.
"Hey?" You poke him in the side, and Big Johnny squeals when his dad jolts like he's just been shocked.
"What was that for?" Little Johnny whines. It wasn’t a hard poke, but he’s rubbing his side like you just jabbed him.
"You're spacing out when you're supposed to go out there in a couple minutes." Is he nervous? The Ruins Incident, jumping into the top ten, transferring from FOMO to DOS. Things have been complicated recently.
“Don’t worry. I’ll be rooting for you. And Big Johnny will be out there to help you too.” You try to be reassuring, but when he turns to you, eyes meeting yours, it's not worry you see.
"Do you think my dad's watching?" Something fierce tugs on your heartstrings. Your hand finds its way to his, weaving your fingers together.
"I'm sure he is and that he's very proud of you." He leans his forehead against yours, and you rest a little easier watching some of the doubt flee from his eyes.
Ghostblade
"Want me to hold onto that for you?" The assassin tucks away the photo of his daughter into his journal before handing it to you, watching as you handle his possession with the utmost care.
"Ready?"
He nods. That's his usual reply to you, but it's not like there's anything else he can say. You do your best to read his facial features, but that’s harder to do when he’s wearing his mask. You confidently nod back.
"Hang on." You reach to brush his hair a little more out of his face. "Got to make sure all those cameras can get your good side, right?"
You expect another nod, but get arm around your shoulders, pulling you in until your forehead hits his chest. His cloak enshrouds you as you both sit comfortably in the silence.
It’s disappointing when the starting buzzer sounds and you have to part, but he gives you a wave before being sent out into the arena. You send a small wave back along with all your hopes that he pulls out a win.

He doesn't say "I love you", he says "Wanna hang out?
X values relationships. He knows damn well its cost, and that's one of the reasons why he doesn't have much people in his life.
His love language is mostly quality time. But it can also be a bit of acts of service and physical touch.
X isn't the type to expose his feelings or talk about them loudly. He prefers showing it with actions more than words.
It can be both intentionally or not.
Because sometimes, he does things just because he's a good guy.
He'd prefer spending hours with you talking about the most unimportant things in the world.
He asks you to hang out with him in the most casual way, he appears calm, but actually his heart is about to jump out of his chest, out of both nervousness and excitement.
Of course he'd usually spend his time alone, with himself.
But you'd be one of the first people he thinks of when he wants to share his free time with.
Casual chats, sharing drinks or maybe favorite desserts, while sitting on a random rooftop that has a good view.
Moments of silence that express more than words can.
Your computer has some errors? Call him.
One of the electrical appliances in your home has broken down? Ask him for help.
Since he lives alone, and he's already a grown man, he knows how to fix most of problems that people usually face.
He wouldn't mind it at all. At least if you won't ask him for help when he's busy or sleeping. Pls respect his need for rest.
He actually enjoys helping you. As a bonus, he can spend more time with you.
And lastly, physical touch.
You need to be really close "friends" at this level. Never expect him to open up to you easily if you two haven't built the needed trust yet.
And he's not clingy. He CAN be clingy, but it's not a big problem for him to hide it if you're not close enough.
At this level, you should at least have an idea about his feelings towards you.
He'll try his best to make his touches casual or "unavoidable", at first.
If you show no signs of discomfort whenever he touches you, he'd probably keep doing more, but slowly and gradually. He's not a fan of rushing things.
First it'll be an accident, then it'll start to sound more like "protective" gestures, and finally he'll start showing affection more openly.
He won't really try to hide the fact that he cares.
His eyes will also start to linger on you longer than he'd usually allow himself.
He won't mind sitting "too close" to you. His thighs will brush against yours lightly, or press gently together when you two are watching some movies, either sitting on the couch or laying on the bed.
He'd also rest his head on your shoulder, but this one is rare because it looks "too intimate".
He'd let you carry him to bed when he's drunk.
Speaking of getting drunk, if he drinks too much, he may lose his control over his feelings and start acting clingy.
But he'd look more cute than pathetic in this state.
Usually he wouldn't talk, he'll just pull you down with him on the bed before you can react, and wrap his arms and legs around you, refusing to let you leave.
Probably he'll be afraid of losing you as a friend, your friendship is one of the best things happened to him in his life, he doesn't want to take such a risk.
E-soul
He doesn't say "I love you", he says nothing.
He's not a fan of words.
If he speaks, he doesn't need to use much words.
His love language is a mix of physical touch and gift giving. Acts of service as a secondary love language. He can also be a bit of quality time.
E-soul is a quiet person. Doesn't speak much, and certainly doesn't show emotions, let alone the fact that he's hiding his face.
He won't understand his own feelings immediately.
When he finally "discovers" what he's actually feeling for you, he'll try to avoid you for a while. He'll need a moment to gather his thoughts and decide what he truly wants, and what he has to do.
His job will force him to meet you or at least to see you, so he probably won't be able to think straight, and he might make wrong decisions, like.. avoiding you for the rest of his life. He doesn't actually needs this, this isn't what he's looking for, this is just a temporary interest and he'll forget about it.
Despite that he tells himself all of that, he'll find himself lost when you two are close. He won't stop looking at you.
It doesn't have to be an "intimate" moment. You're just handing him some documents and he stands still like a statue, staring down at you, like °_°
But you can't see his face because of the mask. You can only see his sudden frozen state. If you'll question him about it, he'll clear his throat and just shake his head. He may forget about the documents.
Sooner or later, he'll realize that this is more than just a passing interest.
Something's telling me that he won't really try to hide his feelings from you after he finally admits to himself that he cares about you more than he should.
He'd be a mess around you, yes, that's for sure. He'd be blushing like a kid, but his mask will do its job.
He'd accidentally lean in, closer to you when you two are standing close together, while you're discussing some important stuff.
He doesn't mind being close to you. He enjoys it.
Of course he won't rush in physical contacts, instead, he'll try to show his interest through giving gifts.
The first time he ever gives you something would be quite surprising.
Imagine him as he suddenly pops out of nowhere in front of you, handing you a small box. He won't say a word, unless you ask him what he's holding. He'll just say "a gift", waits until you take it or will place it in your hand directly, and then leave with no comments.
It would be really awkward, not just surprising.
If you won't show signs of discomfort to his attempts to approach you, he'll be delighted.
He'll take it to the second level.
Gentle touches on your back while guiding you through the crowd or just somewhere more comfortable to sit and talk about some new orders from the Commission.
Sitting "too close" to you that his leg can brush against yours.
His breathing changes when you're together, especially when you're alone. He becomes too quiet.
At some point, he'll start being more intimate with you.
He won't hesitate to touch your cheek gently, maybe even too carefully, as if he's afraid of breaking something fragile.
He won't mind holding your hand, lightly brushing his thumb on your soft skin.
He'll even be comfortable around you enough to the point that he shows you his face. Maybe he'll feel a little insecure about his looks, but only when he thinks of you.
Your acceptance would make him melt. He'll close his eyes and lean against your small palm on his cheek.
Smile
He doesn't say "I love you", he says "You're still here.."
Smile has enough internal insecurities, that's for sure.
Sometimes, he can't help but worry too much, that one day, he'll realize you're not there anymore.
His love language would be a mix of quality time and physical touch, words of affirmation in the second place. He can be all the five types honestly, but these two are the main.
Smile is an extrovert for sure, but a lonely one.
He values long-term relationships with deep trust and appreciation.
You're not just a fan, you truly care, not only because he's just a famous Hero. Or maybe that's just what he thinks because he's attracted to you.
I think he's too sensitive, not in a bad way. He appreciates your care too much, his heart beats from a single pat on his arm from you.
He cared about you too much, he didn't really mean it. So, sometimes he may act as if you're already his.
Not that he's possessive or something, not like that. It's about how he thinks of you. He says a lot of stuff like "hey, you probably missed me", or "waiting for me?"
He won't say that in a teasing way, instead, you'll see genuine affection in his eyes and innocently delighted smile, maybe with a small blush. His eyes will sparkled brightly, you can see that.
Because of his feelings for you, sometimes he can't help but think that you're feeling the same.
Well, maybe you do feel the same, but he's the one who fell first, and maybe he's the one who's gonna fall harder.
If you show your interest in him in return, he may rush a bit. Accidentally.
But just a bit. He's just excited, happy that you like him back.
He may even start crying while hugging you, leaning all his weight on you, with his nose buried in your shoulder, staining your clothes with tears.
He will not wait for weeks or months to start dating. Well, only if you didn't ask for waiting, he'll wait gladly if you do, just for you.
He'll ask you out more often. Doesn't mind holding your hand all the time. But, he shows more affection only when you two are alone. He still appreciates some privacy.
When you're alone together, you two will probably spend the whole time cuddling or at least hugging each other. He'd be REALLY happy if you make out.
Sheng
He doesn't say "I love you", he says "Let me help you with this."
He's the right example of a heart full of love.
A person who values the meaning of family more than anything else.
His love language appears to be acts of service as a main one, and a mix of quality time and physical touch in the second place.
Something's telling me that Sheng has always valued love, ending up with the same person you loved for the first time, and spending your whole life with them. Or at least, that's how I personally think he saw the definition of Love.
He'd always offer help. On missions, if ur a Hero, he'd make sure you're safe, constantly reminding himself to stay by your side, lifting some weights, even if it's just a bunch of papers, or walking with you to your home, especially if it's dangerous.
Actually, he just wants to be with you.
He wants to he useful for you.
Maybe he won't realize it immediately, but it won't take too long for him to finally understand his feelings, unlike E-soul. He'll also accept his feelings, he won't need much time to accept the fact that he wants to be with you.
Of course he won't fall easily like Smile.
Maybe you'll fall first, but he'll fall harder.
He doesn't mind being close to you physically at all, but if you're uncomfortable, he'll know that, and of course he'll try his best for you.
He'll ask you out, only after making sure that his feelings are not one-sided, and that you're comfortable enough with him.
I have a feeling that Sheng is good at reading people. Not perfect, but good enough to tell if you like him or not, even if it's just an admiration.
He's the kind of man who pulls a chair for you, opens the door for you, lets you leave or come in first. Not because "that's right" or because "he should", but because he's just like that. It's a habit, always offering help for your comfort.
He will always ask for permission before he holds your hand or touches you, let alone to kiss you.
Speaking of being intimate, I don't think he'd rush. He'll take it slow, not too slow like X, or fast like Smile.
And he's not a big fan of PDA, but he doesn't mind holding hands. Kisses are only for you, no one needs to know what happens behind the scenes.
Nine
We don't know much about his personality, but I'll try my best..
He doesn't say "I love you", he says "Leave it to me!" 👍
Nine isn't very good at flirting or at least showing interest in someone normally.
He's probably the biggest idiot in this department.
And he knows that, by the way..
So, he'll try to show his care in the best way he knows, acts of service and gift giving, physical touch as a second love language, which he probably won't use if you're not dating..
I have a feeling that Nine has always been dumb with girls. He's unlucky just like that..
A headcanon of mine, he can fix almost everything. So, if you're having troubles with any machine at your home, just call him.
As a Hero, Nine would be HAPPY if he has a chance to protect you. Sure he'd be worried for you, but he can't help but feel excited for finally being able to hold you.
Again, he likes being close to you physically, but he can't trust himself enough to take he first step if there's no need for that, like saving you or something..
Usually that's because he's afraid of ruining everything..
He's reckless, we all know that. So he may end up hurting himself while saving you, and when you're scolding him gently he'll be staring at you like :>
Because he's happy that he had a chance to be your Hero.
Maybe, sometimes only sometimes, he'll break ur stuff just so you call him to fix it. Sure he'll try to not create too much troubles.
He blushes easily in front of you, especially when he's in a good mood, so it's not hard to tell if he likes you or not.
Maybe he'll get defensive if you ask him about that directly, and maybe even lie and tell you that he doesn't like you.
But he'll regret it quickly.
He's been bad with girls, most of them either disliked him or ignored him. So, he doesn't want to receive the same treatment from you. Which also means he's gonna lose you as a friend, which is his last hope.
All what he can ask is to be friends with you..
He's reckless in everything but taking the first step.
If you're feelings the same, try to be patient with him. He's not used to be accepted from a girl at all.
Maybe you could use words or gifts to reach to him.
His eyes will lit up when you do, maybe he'll even blush.
"This.. is this for me? Really? For.. me?" He won't be able to think straight.
Maybe he'll jump on you, hugging you tightly. Remember, he's reckless.
Probably would pull away immediately and apologize.
L. Johnny
He doesn't say "I love you", he says things like "Did you have breakfast?", or "Do you need help with that?"
Johnny is a mix of his mama and dada.
Always helpful like his father, and a family man, and enjoys spending time with his loved ones, like his mother.
His love language is a mix of all of them, acts of service, gift giving, quality time, physical touch, and words of affirmation.
But he'll take it slow with physical touch, that's for sure..
The first thing Johnny does is to introduce his son to you.
Probably you two start meeting just because of B.Johnny.
The way you take care of B.Johnny would make L.Johnny like you, even if it's just a small attraction.
His caring nature would probably make you like him.
Johnny is a little stupid, unlike his papa, so it's not easy for him to tell if you like him or not.. if you're not trying to be close to him, of course.
Physical closeness is usually intimate in his opinion, especially if you're being alone together and sitting too close.
Friends sitting too close to each other in public isn't serious, like.. not intimate. But if you're alone, then this should mean something.
Of course he won't jump to conclusions immediately. But still, his thoughts will affect his way of thinking whether he likes it or not. The important thing is to try to not let that show. Not yet..
You'll need to show your feelings using words, mostly.
Let him know that you would like to spend more time with him, to meet him again or anything, doing different activities, sharing hobbies and so on..
You'll need to tell him directly that you like him, or that you care about him not as a friend, but more.
He has to make sure you truly like him and that you really want to be with him, before he does something stupid. He also wants to give you the time you need. He'll wait for you no matter how long it's gonna take..
Dragon Boy
He doesn't say "I love you", he says "Stay.."
Dragon isn't the most suitable for relationships or dating..
If he likes you, or starts liking you, you need to be someone special. You need to have some kind of a unique energy, that makes him feel attracted to you.
His love would be a little twisted, the closest thing I can get to, is quality time and physical touch, maybe gift giving too.
Dragon grew up with, the least it can be said about them, is toxic and mentally ill parents.
Building a relationship with him is almost impossible.
At some point, you'd become friends.
He won't fall for you easily. He'd probably fall first, but not quickly.
He may start hating himself for letting his feelings take the lead, for allowing himself to feel too much for you.
He'll constantly ask you to hang out with him, he won't realize he's actually making it very clear that he wants to spend more time with you.
Casually throws a bottle of your favorite drink in your hands, and smirks like an idiot.
He can lost control over his words sometimes, especially when you're too close, and he may start blushing, accidentally.
It's not very hard to tell if he likes you, especially when you two know each other well.
Sometimes he'll act "differently".
He'll suddenly become too quiet, comparing to his usual nature. He'd probably keep his eyes on you while you're busy with something, silently watching you, slowly realizing the fact that he cares about you.
Sometimes, he'll lock himself in his room, thinking about you, and he may cry a bit, because he feels like he's not allowed to this all, that he isn't "suitable" for this.
It's impossible for him to have such experience with you. He's hurt because he cares about you. He may suddenly go out to "take out the trash", as an attempt to get rid of these pathetic thoughts.
He'll try his best to tell himself that this whole situation is so pathetic and useless, until the moment he sees you again, realizing that he can't call his feelings for you pathetic.
When he finally accepts his feelings, he'll become more open to physical closeness.
At first, he'd be too cautious.
Usually, the only time someone touches him is in fights, and we know what kind of touches he receives.
He will avoid eye contact when you're too close, it makes him feel like he's being exposed.
If you try to touch him, he may take a step back or flinch slightly. But he'll try to mask it.
He'll get used to you eventually, but he won't be able to trust you completely yet.
You'll have to take the first step, but carefully and slowly.
Any rushing moments can make him start to question your intentions.
He won't confess immediately. He's not sure if he's gonna lose something after he says the words, and he's not sure what exactly he's going to lose, you? Or something in his nature..? Some of his "qualities"..?
One of the good things he lets himself enjoy, is cuddling with you.
He's probably feeling weak emotionally when he wants you to hug him.

A/N: If I'm honest, it's a bit difficult to write properly about Dragon Boy, but I'll do my best! + he's already giving me yandere vibes.

He makes no secret of his interest in you, and manipulates situations so that he protects you from attacks by monsters, fear-cursed heroes, or natural disasters.
If you're around, he won't hurt a person that much, but if you're gone, oh, believe me when I say Dragon Boy shows no mercy. As if some trash like that is allowed to touch what's his.
When you are alone he is much softer to you, but he often covers this up with his relaxed demeanor.
He's freaky in bed, and he loves to be praised, whether you're intimate, in public, or after he's won a fight.
He also tracks you so he knows where you are; there's no escape from him. He won't let your friends or family get in the way, even if he has to kill them.
You're already engaged, and the wedding is coming up soon? He crashes the wedding and declares his love for you in the most romantic way, and if you refuse, you'll face the wrath of his followers. You don't want that, do you?
No matter what, there is only one way to him.
He is obsessed with making you believe everything he says and do everything he wants, until he locks you in his apartment in the Hero's Tower so no one can see you.
There are rumors on Fomo that Dragon Boy is in a relationship, but no one knows who, and there are many fans who ambush him because of this.
When you have a breakdown, the only words he can say are, "Don't you notice that I'm doing all this for you?" And the concern in his eyes, the affection and the hidden love that lies in his soul slowly lulls you back into the safety that can only be found with him.
While missing posters of you are scattered around the city, you lie with your head on Dragon Boy's lap and quietly murmur your declarations of love to him, how much he is the only one you truly need in your life.
If he decides to go out with you, he'll completely cover your face so none of the others can even recognize you. If another hero visits him, he'll make sure you wait in his bedroom until the visitor has left.

[ dragon boy X reader ]
you were one of the heroes who happened to be at the incident when it unfolded. watching as X toss your co-hero in the water. you sigh, reluctantly stepping forward from the crowd. what was nice doing and why did dragon boy choose to fight smile? you weren't there from the beginning but you were there during the mid fight after nice injected your co-hero with some funny looking serum.
he could've handled anything so you didn't bother to reveal and join the fight, just watching from afar. you manipulated water as your hero power. stepping forward and shouting at the wannabe dragon. you pulled him out of the water with your power. murmurs could be heard.
" the water hero was with us this whole time? " flashing them an awkward smile and a wave.
" sorry I wasn't interested in the fight, " the people laughed.
you place dragon boy down, he shakes his head like dog, splashing water everywhere before he runs a hand through his hair. he huffs in annoyance, crossing his arms.
" did he send you here? " you tilt your head in curiosity at his words.
" not really, I was having a nice scroll till I saw you fighting. you weren't cool, " he lets out an angry huff.
" I wasn't impressing you! " you turn around, looking at where nice and x stand.
it's better to leave now than wait for a miracle to happen. rock's reputation wasn't the best right now so staying longer as one of his heroes might just stir more controversy with the current incident. they'll probably write this off as one of the heroes consuming fear than what the actual story was. fear being injected into the hero...
you sigh, pulling dragon boy's ear to get him to stand and leading him, he winches in pain and curses you.
" let me go, damn it! " you ignore anyways, leading him to god knows where.
" shut it will you, " from pulling him away from the crowd, you managed to hold his hand.
he didn't really mind you. he wasn't expecting you to take him home either. a faint blush spread across his cheeks. what's with this scent of familiarity, he's never really experienced a warmth like yours. he's sitting on one of the chairs of your dining table, with a towel draped on his neck after you ruffled his hair dry. you had one of your hands holding his wrist to inspect any wounds, and then you cup his face, turning it left and right before using your other hand to apply some alcohol on the small scratches. why bother so much?
" because I like you, " he flushed red.
turning his head away quickly to the side as one hand comes flying to cover his mouth, he didn't mean to sound rude even though you saw his brash and ugly sides already. moments of silence filled the room as he allows you to patch him up even though he never really fix himself up after a fight, just letting the wounds heal over time or just fighting till he wakes up in the hospital with rock on his side. this change was nice.
you close the first aid box, snapping him out of his thoughts, before you can turn around and leave, he quickly pulls you in a hug. you both fall on the floor. your gentle laugh fills the room.
" what's with you? "
" what's with you? " he mocks back.
" you're so reckless. " you laugh, cupping his now bandage cheek.
" I could say the same for you, " he rolls his eyes.
remembering the first time he saw you in the agency, walking around with one of your arms in a cast as you hand rock your paper for leave. rock takes it nonetheless, when you leave, he turns to the purple haired boy, sitting on his desk. telling him to never be like you, always jumping in before thinking. oh how times changed, you were more matured now compared to him. he laughs at the thought.
you stare at him hard, he was adorable with his hair down, he would've been way cooler if he knew how to shut up and not pick fights randomly, talking about cleaning up trash.
the first time you met him, you were on your way back late into the night. when a few random thugs appeared out of nowhere, just as the thug pushed you against the wall, your purple hero jumped in and kick the man's face. talking about how trash like them shouldn't be walking around. you were the one who broke the fight after he knocked the rest of the thugs down, splashing cold water out of your hands at the boy as he glares at you.
" I'm a hero too, you know. " you huff, leaving him alone.
he smiles, turning to look at his wrist. you say it with offense as if you didn't just place your trust in him a few moments ago.
he finds it cute how you act tough but often watch him go at it, stopping him with a splash of water and turning around in your heels before he could do anything to you.
he placed his cold hand over yours, pulling away as he looks into your eyes.
" I'm not one for romance or love or whatever you call this, but if it's you, I don't mind... I love you, " you feel as though fireworks were shooting at the back of your head, hearing the guy you didn't even realise you had admired for a long time, confess.
he leans in and pecks your cheek, youre left a blushing and stuttering mess.
" use your words, " he jabs your forehead. his laughter filling the room.
A top hero entering your shop for a peek into their near future. Your reputation for your power of future sight must have reached the people at the top of the food chain. Why else would you have a celebrity as a customer? Perhaps this will increase your trust value even higher.
However, the hero just so happened to be Dragon Boy.
Your hero crush.
The moment you made eye contact with him after the door closed behind him, you forgot your usual greeting. A blush pink tinted your cheeks, and you couldn't help your eyes glossing over his purple mohawk. You always loved that purple.
"You're hot."
"I'm sorry?" You blink out of your daze, believing you mistook what you heard him say.
"Heh, cute too," he muttered under his breath with a sly smirk. Surely you imagined that, but you couldn't ask since he made his way to your counter, setting his crossed arms on the counter as he leaned forward. "Whatcha got for prices, Madam Overseer?"
"Uh- well, the list..." Your hands fumbled for the paper under your counter. His face was so close to yours, and you wanted to savour it as much as possible, so you did your best to keep eye contact and stay in front of him. "They're all right here-" You slide the laminated paper over and break eye contact with him. "The prices vary depending on how far into the future you want and how much context you want, as the longer I use my power and the further into the future it is, it takes a strain on my stamina."
He hums as he pretends to look over the prices, purposely leaning closer to you. Glancing up to meet your gaze, he smiles slyly at your flustered expression. "Wouldn't want you to strain yourself too much, right?"
"Right." You cringe at how quickly you responded.
The hero stops teasing you and stands straight, his expression now down to business.
"I only wanna know where I'll rank two weeks from now." Dragon Boy pushes a wad of cash over. "Keep the change."
"Thank you." You bow, showing your gratitude. Efficiently, you put the money away and exited the counter area. Standing in front of some curtains that lead into the backroom, you gesture for him to step inside. "Right this way."
Confidently, he walks into your mystic room. Decor of stars and purple galaxy streams hung from the ceiling, aesthetically enhancing the crystal ball in the center. The hero takes a seat, and you take your place across from him.
You hold your hands up before you bashfully remember- "I'll need to take your hands- uh-"
"You can call me Ryu," he says and smoothly slides his hands into yours. His eyes give that flirtatious glint, and the blush returns to your cheeks.
"Ryu..." you say his name, and his smile proudly when you test it on your tongue. "This-" You motion to both of your hands. "Just makes it easier for me to use my power."
He hums in response.
Taking a deep breath, you close your eyes and begin to concentrate. As you focus on the destined future, the crystal ball creates swirling clouds in its barrier, and Ryu watches in awe and anticipation. Seconds pass, and the clouds fade out to reveal that he is ranked as the 3rd hero. Dragon Boy will be in the top 10 in 2 weeks.
"This is amazing!" you exclaim, opening your eyes to see his excitement. "You're gonna be one of the top 10 heroes!" You beam, truly delighted your hero crush is finally gonna get the acknowledgement he deserves. Ryu sits up with pride.
"I mean, I knew I was gonna be, but it's great to see the confirmation," he states ominously. "You just made my day." He leans real close, sly smile on his lips, your bashful face mere inches away. "I could kiss you right now."
"Uh- I wouldn't mind," you whisper, unsure if he's serious or not.
Ryu moves closer, lips brush over yours. Warmth consumes your face when he presses a kiss to your lips. Just as you close your eyes to savour the moment, he pulls away, leaving you wanting more.
"You got any more clients tonight?"
"No," you say, puzzled.
"Good, means I can take you to dinner." He moves to your ear. "Maybe we can more afterwards." Moving back, he quirks an inquiring brow if you're interested.
"I'd like that," you reply, playing it cool, subtly rubbing the back of your neck to calm your inner fangirl. "I just gotta close the shop real quick."
"Of course-" he moves to the curtain exit. "I'll wait for you."

"That was the best noodles I've ever had," you comment as you both exit the restaurant.
"Learned about it from my manager," he says as he falls into step with you. "But he only took me there once."
"Oh? Does he favour other places?" you inquire, curiously.
"Nah, he just prefers eating in his fancy headquarters."
"Can't blame him if that's the case."
"What, you like fancy things?" Ryu raises a brow at you.
"Maybe," you hum when you speed up and turn around to walk in front of him. "Say, you mind if you humour me for a minute?"
"Hmm?" He tilts his head at you. "And what would I be humouring?"
"A peek into your future."
"Heh, don't you need your crystal ball for that? We're heading in the opposite direction of your shop."
"The crystal is for the client to see what I see. It's all up here." You tap your forehead in reference to your third eye.
"Ah, so you're not gonna let me see my future?"
"What's a little mystery?"
"I'd say it's a little unfair, but for you-" He holds the door of his apartment building open for you. "I'll make an exception."

"So, how do you wanna do this?" Ryu asks, falling back into his plush couch.
"I just need to make contact with the person to look into their future."
"And what part of my future do you wanna see?" He turns to you, resting his cheek on his fist, watching you sit next to him.
"I wanna see your ceremony, you up on stage and congratulated for ranking 3rd."
He hums, leaning closer to you. "Why don't you come see for yourself?"
"You think a non-VIP like me could attend?"
"Hmm, you'd be a VIP," he states, voice softer as he gets closer to your ear. "I'd personally invite you. I owe it all to you after all."
"I only let you know you made it," you dismiss, locking eyes with Ryu.
"And all I needed was that, and your glow of excitement." His words brush against the corner of your lips.
"How will I know if I can make it if I don't know what day it is?" A mischief smile makes its way on your face.
"I guess you got me there," he chuckles. You giggle alongside him. His cheek brushes against yours. "Let me know if you're there."
"I will."
Ryu closes the gap between you, and as you deepen the kiss, you find yourself overseeing Dragon Boy's future. Sadly, you didn't see yourself in the crowd at the ceremony. Maybe you couldn't make it that day. Something strikes you as odd, however.
Where was Smile?
You play through the entire ceremony, searching and searching for the hero, spotting various other heroes and the rest of the top 10 there, aside from X, but Smile was nowhere to be found. It offsets you. Smile is the kind of hero to always be there for a hero ceremony, always. You would know, he's your childhood favourite hero.
When you come back to, Dragon Boy is looking at you with furrowed brows. "Hey, what's wrong?"
He holds your head in his hands, and you activate your powers again, this time searching for any moment in his future that'll feature Smile. You expected a news article, maybe an announcement that Smile was busy that day, but what you got was even worse.
All you could do is watch the vision play out, watch as Dragon Boy picks a fight with Smile. The older man got jumped while he was simply minding his own business. Dragon Boy just attacks him out of nowhere. Why?
It continues playing. Nice became a bystander until he attacked Dragon Boy with a weird injection vial. Dragon repels it onto Smile...
Tears begin to fall from your eyes as you watch your childhood hero twist into a monster. Black ooze consuming his once bright self. The raging entity makes Smile completely unrecognizable. You feel yourself getting pulled back. The last thing you witness is Dragon Boy giving Smile a finishing blow.
"[Name]!" Ryu shakes you, trying to get you out of your future sight.
The moment you return and see him in front of you, you shove Ryu's face away. "Get off me!"
"Hey, what's your deal?"
You stand and back up from him. "Stay away you- you monster!"
"What are you talking about?" Ryu narrows his eyes until realization hits. He stands and approaches you slowly. "What exactly did you see?"
"I saw how you took the 3rd spot." You glare at him.
"Really now?" Ryu clicks his tongue. "Well, that's too bad. I don't like taking things out when I know how valuable they are."

Cyan who can be an ordinary person instead of the idol everyone adores her as. She doesn’t need luck to keep you by her side.
Queen who doesn’t need all her accolades and accomplishments. She could do nothing other than be herself and you’d still love her.
Nice who knows you love his weaknesses and cracks as much as you love the parts of him that people deem “perfect”
Lin Ling who sees you care about him as both a commoner and a hero. No matter which role he’s in, you’re there.
Little Johnny who feels like you see him as a genuine hero instead of the mascot he’s been marketed as. He doesn’t need to prove himself.
Ghostblade who doesn’t have to always have that mysterious, stoic, and cool aura when he’s with you. He doesn’t want to have to hold back showing how he feels about you because of that aloofness.
Dragon Boy who experiences gentleness when he’s with you, not having to take hit after hit and being allowed to rest.
Loli who feels recognized as a truly competent hero with you. You’d trust her with your life and she doesn’t take that lightly.
