5 minor items for Dragonbane to improve quality of life for the party.
Brief article about building fantasy towns. Our current view is distorted by modern fantasy tabletop roleplaying games.
The wondrousness of the Inns & Taverns of Myrr. I aspire to one day be able to add this level of detail to my own setting. Please show @CawoodPublishing some love if you get a chance.
Borrowing Torch Rules From Shadowdark RPG.
I like to combine TableTop RolePlaying Game concepts whenever I can. Why confine myself to one game if I can beg, borrow, and steal anything I didn't come up with myself? That's half the fun of this hobby.
So I can use them in Dragonbane! I love the straightforwardness of torch timers in Shadowdark RPG. For those who might not know, when adventurers enter a dark and gloomy dungeon, they light their torches and lanterns and set a real world timer for one hour. When the timer goes off in the real world, the lights go out in game. Shadowdark also has some amazing darkness rules. No light? Well, the…

#RPGaDay2024 August 9th.
I'm feeling quite inspired to write my own accessory today. I guess that's what prompts are for. Why wait around for another writer to create an accessory if I can do it myself?
Accessory you’d (I’d) like to see: Dragonbane Monsters and Magic (working title.) If I were to create an accessory for Dragonbane, I think there are three things I would like to see in it. First, we can’t go wrong with more monsters. Second, we can always use more spells and possibly new caster Professions. Last, there really aren’t enough magic items in the Core rules. My preferred approach to…
Dragonbane- Simplicity Rules.
Sometimes simpler TTRPGs are just better. I love Dragonbane! Fewer numbers to crunch, easy to understand mechanics, fast character creation, relatively fast combat, and a dreamy magic system. I'll take it!
Why do other games knock themselves out with tons of extra options? This is all there is to character creation. I’m probably as guilty as anyone of wanting more and more options in my fantasy roleplaying games. My first thought upon seeing a game that came out with just the four classes (Fighter, Thief, Wizard, and Cleric) was I need to add so much to this game before I’m satisfied with it.…
Monster Monday: Mountain Troll
Mountain Trolls are nothing like their more aggressive cousins. They live quiet, solitary lives in peace. They love history! They might actually talk to the characters.
This is one of the true gems of the Dragonbane Bestiary. Mountain Troll from the Dragonbane Bestiary. Imagine seeking shelter in a cave somewhere in the highland mountains, only to find writings all over the walls in multiple languages about all kinds of historical events from all over the land. Suddenly, the group hears stirring in the back of the cave, something is coming forward to greet…
