Ok dreamsmp au time uh briefly talked about it in a post but here's it more in depth. Ghostinnit. He didn't commit suicide, but still made the huge pillar and ended up running off into the snow to find technoblade, but lost his way and eventually froze to death there. He wakes up as a ghost a few days later, after his body has already been buried in the snow and he never sees it. He knows he is a ghost pretty shortly after he wakes up but has no recollection of how he died or why he is out in the snow.
Luckily he found a compass hanging from a chain on his neck with the words 'Your Tubbo' engraved on it. Having no other leads, he begins to follow it, hoping it will lead back to Tubbo, and in turn, L'Manburg. At some point into the journey he thinks about how much faster the trek would be if he had wings like Philza, and much to his surprise two big black wings are suddenly on his back. Excited at discovering his 'cool ass ghost powers', he tests it more and finds himself as a bee, then a raccoon, then Dream, then Tommy again. He wonders if Ghostbur had this ability, and if he did, why hadn't he used it?
Back in L'Manburg and DreamSMP, word had spread of Tommy's death. Dream refuses to believe he is dead, but others have visited the remains of Logstedshire and had came to the conclusion that he had killed himself. Dream isn't in town most of the time, usually off looking for Tommy. Tubbo, obsessed with the thought that Tommy's death is his fault, spends most of his time in his office trying to distract himself with the constant busy work of his presidential duties. You can understand his mixed emotions when a mostly greyed out Tommy, only the red on his shirt and his blue eyes being highlighted, walks through his door.
After getting over initial shock from Tubbo they talk about just how much memory he still has. He still has most of it, but doesn't remember anything past robbing george's house. Unlike ghostbur he wants to find out what happened and eventually does, though he will commonly forget bits and pieces of what he was told. He also shows Tubbo his shape shifting ability, resulting in smiles when he turned into a bee, and laughter when he turns into Technoblade and gives his best "I drop kicked that child in self defense". Eventually they decide it's best if not a whole lot of people know about the ghost, not wanting word to get to Dream about his existence on this plane, fearing that he would try to force him out again or try to declare war at his return.
And so, Tommy follows Tubbo around most of the time as a small bee, and while others notice the small gray bee trailing behind Tubbo constantly, not many ask about it.
That's about as far as I've gotten in developing this au for now. On the possibly knowing about ghostinnit list are Ranboo, maybe Quackity, Phil, Techno, and Ghostbur probably knows already.
