I started replaying DAI in preparation for DATV and instantly got mad about the eggman. Honestly I think he's a great character and I usually enjoy his type, so I guess I'm just elf racist against bald white guys. Maybe I'll enjoy him more as things go on, but he's a specific type of smug that makes me want to punch him. Which I did the first time I played the game.
i know i am in #belposting mode rn, but it's two AM and i wanna talk about Leth's relationship with their clan, so i've come to subject you to that:

so leth's parents died in a natural disaster when they were like six, and since there weren't really any other direct relatives of theirs around, they sort of became a communal responsibility (in part because they needed that many people to look after them lol), but they especially became a favorite of their Keeper, who was also their favorite adult ( + first nonbinary person they knew)
which was fine and cool, except the Keeper had a First, and the First was jealous
(she kind of suspected that had Leth had one iota of magical ability, the Keeper would probably have apprenticed them, instead, which was not an... unfounded suspicion)
so then Leth got trapped in Treviso, became a Crow, etc, etc.
when they're a little older and calm down a bit about the Keeper having to leave them in Treviso, they return to being on good terms with their clan when they're in the area; they like feeling as though their status as a Crow confers a sort of protection on everyone
but also they still get into arguments with the Keeper and with the elder who teaches them how to tattoo, because both of them want Leth to leave the Crows, and won't stop bringing it up
Leth is already In Deep with Viago and won't leave no matter what, so they usually get into at least one fight per visit about it
this is the opinion of around half the clan, but most of them don't want to get into interminable arguments with Leth
Things sort of stay that way until the Keeper dies (just of being old), and the First, who still doesn't like Leth (mostly for adult reasons, now-- they are always blunt and opinionated) becomes Keeper
Those two argue way more, but since Viago is Fifth Talon, by that point, Leth's position has become VERY advantageous in Treviso + Salle, and the Keeper feels like she can't just tell Leth to fuck off, because she does still care about doing her job
everyone else sort of doesn't care, except they all watch them argue like it's a tennis match or something. Place bets on who is going to win the upcoming fight, and if/when the fighting is going to escalate (there are a few ppl who are convinced that the Keeper + Leth are just going to have impassioned hate sex eventually and that this will resolve all issues)
so Leth just sort of... hovers on the edge of things. They come to big events, and visit sometimes. the kids think they're the Cool Relative who has a bunch of fun stories and will let them do stuff the other adults say isn't allowed. they don't feel rejected, exactly, because they're too stubborn to consider the idea that they aren't "Dalish enough", but it is sort of a weird limbo
I do think that if they were ever to go back, the Keeper would let them stay, but they probably never would.
