haven’t seen the rest of the episodes with them yet but good lord I love the augments so much. jack’s vocal stims are going to be incorporated into my own. i love how he leaps around everywhere. i love patrick and how his friends all take him so seriously, never even questioning his intelligence. and deal with Serina, and how they just accept her even though she’s different and can’t talk as much. Lauren is a bit much for me, but that’s okay. like i meet these characters and it’s just like “Wow those are my friends. Like i’m in a discord server with all of these people.” it’s representation of me and people like me (though i’m certainly not at their level of intelligence).
i kind of loathe how the story treats them. but i’m also remind myself that ds9 is a future written thirty years ago. every day i spend taking about my disability, not being afraid of it, spreading education about it, is another day I help make sure the future Statistical Probabilities depicted will never come to pass.
