downloading and installing cc
hiii everyone! 🌻 hope you’re all having a beautiful day! i've gotten two messages about a problem with “corrupted” versions of my files. of course upon receiving these i freaked out and panicked thinking that all of my content was messed up. but i’ve re-downloaded and tested everything myself, as have some of my friends on both pc and mac, and none of us have had any problems installing and using the cc. so i really have no idea what the problem could be, as there were not many details in the original messages. but i decided to just make a public post with some information and tips that might be helpful for anyone downloading ts4 cc.
first and foremost, if you’re having a problem with one of my files and you want help, you NEED to be specific so that i can figure out what might be going on.
i.e. exactly which files did you put in your mods folder? did your game launch fine but the items didn’t show up? did the game refuse to launch at all? exactly what kind of error message, if any, did you get, when did you get it, and what were you doing when you got it?
second, if you’re new to using ts4 cc, please do a quick google search to find out the basics of downloading and installing cc in ts4.
i.e. unzipping compressed files, knowing which files to put into your mods folder, knowing where to find your mods folder, etc.
third, if you download a piece of cc from me or anyone else and it doesn’t seem to work, remove all other mods and cc and try launching your game again to make sure there isn’t a problem with your other mods or cc.
fourth, please make sure that when you download any of my content from sfs, you follow these steps:
1. navigate to your downloads folder and unzip the compressed folder (ends in .zip)
if you are on pc, after unzipping you may see two new folders. one with the name matching the zip folder name “[ajduckie] whatevertheccnameis” and one titled “_macosx”. you can ignore and/or delete the “_macosx” folder. apparently this is just something included whenever a pc-user downloads a folder compressed by a mac-user.
2. open the folder entitled “[ajduckie] whatevertheccnameis”
inside of that folder you will see a .package file, or possibly multiple .package files if the download includes multiple items. the .package file is the ONLY file you need to move to your mods folder. you can ignore and/or delete all other files inside of the folder. if you want to keep the thumbnail previews or any other .png files, you can move them to your mods folder or wherever you want. they’re just there to help you know what the cc looks like without having to go into your game.
3. move the file or files ending in .package to your mods folder
done, easy peasy! i would have included screenshots but i don’t have a pc and i couldn’t get any screenshots that were high-resolution enough from my friends who have pcs and went through these steps.
ps // none of this is meant to sound hostile or confrontational - i'm just offering some basic information that is important for anyone downloading and installing ts4 cc. if you have a problem with any of my cc files, please read this first and make sure that you downloaded, unzipped, and installed the package(s) correctly. once you’ve done that, if you’re still having an issue, send me an ask with as much detailed information as possible so that i can help you troubleshoot! thank you!! 💛
