CC not wanting Gillian to leave doesn’t resonate the same as DD not wanting her to leave I feel that way too. CC didn’t want her to leave because he wanted to have the last word with her character and thought he could write endless of x files sloppy mythology. DD said he felt she was quitting him because - as I understand it - they are a duo and he felt she was abandoning their partnership. I’m not saying that was fair to her if I’m right about this, but it’s a different feeling.
Two very different situations, in my opinion. With CC it feels like control, and him not listening. Like he kept saying he didn't know Gillian wasn't coming back even though she had said it. We knew, but he didn't? No, dude. You just didn't listen.
With DD, it seems more complicated. He said he felt like she was quitting *him*. As if thinking they can only be friends if they work together. And yeah, maybe he was wondering why she didn't discuss it with him beforehand. Though, why should she? In the end, we don't know what went on there and who said what when. As always with these two, it's complicated.
Not with CC, though. Gillian said she was done and the way I see it, he didn't believe her.
