Please pray to whatever the fuck you believe in for my state and more specifically the Eagle Creek Fire that is about 15 minutes from my house. Or don't pray... I don't. Just good thoughts.

Please Pray for Oregon

For the past week a forest fire has been burning in Oregon, a northwest state in the US. I live here and seeing everything burned because of this fire is devastating. This fire is called the Eagle Creek fire and is completely burning in the Columbia Gorge.

Taking in the account of everything that is happing in the world, it seems pretty mild. But it's my home, and I'm not asking for anything but some time and thoughts from you people.

The severity of the fire is bad. It's zero percent contained and the smoke from this fire is making our air so dirty that are air pollution is at 230. And burned over 33,000 acres and jumped the Columbia River and started spreading the fire into Washington state.

Please I'm not asking for donations. All I'm asking is for thoughts and hopes and awareness of this fire.

the columbia river gorge is burning and it's beyond heartbreaking. like many other pacific northwest residents or even just visitors, i have no words.

I know this isn't what your blog deals with but I was wondering since you have a relatively large following, either here or somewhere else, would it be okay to raise awareness of the Oregon Forest Fires (I don't have the link I wanted) because our beautiful state is burning to the ground. I know it's not as bad as the hurricane but it's still frightening that its raining ash and the air has become near toxic...

There’s a massive wildfire going on in Eagle Creek, Oregon. Hundreds living in the area have had to be evacuated and the fire had destroyed over 10,000 acres since Saturday. 

How to help:

Donations There’s no system currently in place to receive donations from individual citizens, do not send supplies to the sheriff’s office or any other first responder staging location.

You’re encouraged to donate to The Red Cross by visiting redcross.org or calling 1-800-REDCROSS.

To volunteer or donate supplies locally you can call 541-387-6911.

Donate to Hood River Search & Rescue You can also send donation checks to to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office at 309 State Street in Hood River.

Hegewald Center, 710 Southwest Rock Creek Drive, Stevenson, Washington

You can call 503-823-2323 for assistance with evacuations and request resources. 

Local businesses and fundraisers

Uhaul in Gresham at 704 Northeast Hogan Drive is offering one month of free storage space for evacuees. 

Horton’s Towing is offering assistance with moving evacuee’s items and belongings. They can meet people at Gresham’s Uhaul. Call 503-606-8697 for more information.

Gone Towing offers assistance with moving animals or cars. You must be in a level 2 or 3 evacuation zone to get free assistance. They also accept donations to help the evacuees, any unused funds will be donated to The Red Cross or local fire departments. Call 503-602-2626 for more information.

The VCA hospitals in Vancouver and Battle Ground are offering free accommodations for evacuated animals. Call 360-892-0032 (Vancouver) or 360-687-7151 (Battle Ground) for more information.

In 2015 I spent some time exploring a tree farm in Eastern Oregon. If you ever drive by and want to check it out, make sure you stop and talk to them! The sheriffs regularly patrol the area and the owners are very strict about people trespassing!
