The Voidic People of the End
My first proper Youtube video is out! In this one, I talk about the endermen, the other creatures of the End, what their "biology" may mean for them, as well as analyzing how they relate to their environment! I hope you all enjoy! Come and support me! :D
The dragon has been slain, The Orb’s been shattered, Archie’s long dead (not that he’s much of a threat without the orb) - so what’s going on in the End? Do not fear - the telepathic purple human-binguses are just fine!
If you’re wondering what those peculiar skin flaps are around their necks, those are fat caps that work like camel humps and keep the enders nourished on long journeys through the barren End without food. They also inflate when they’re excited, frightened or pissed off. If you’re wondering what that weird glow on their skin is - it’s iridescence! And finally, if you’re wondering where the Endersent’s mouth is, it’s under the jaw. All enders have a 3 way slit jaw that splays open to bare their beak-like batteries of teeth, but endersents are situated down where the chin should be while the normal enderman mouth is akin in placement to a human’s and is more of a W shape.
If you’re lost on what the Chorus is, one of my most popular posts explains it - look for Enderman headcanons on my account!
I don’t play Minecraft Dungeons, but @liquidink21 has made me aware of a very interesting DLC for it. Namely, this End-related expansion. (Disclaimer: I don’t know the lore of Dungeons, this is just me analyzing the things I see purely from a watch of the trailer.)
Dungeons is of ambiguous canonicity, but there are some really nice things here that give me ideas for a potential End update.
This is a beautiful shot that showcases some more detailed End terrain, and they’ve really leaned into the vibe of a mystic alien world with all those bioluminescent plants. Personally, I feel like End flora should lean more purple or deep blue/green (like the color of Ender pearls) than yellow, but those seaweed-looking stalks do provide a really nice glow. I am a sucker for bioluminescence and it’s right at home in the End... giving it almost a deep-sea feel.
Multileveled End terrain generation is something I’d really like to see in the End update, along with vertical biome variation. It adds a three-dimensional aspect that the dimension currently sort of lacks since the islands are more or less all on the same level.
These pink, cherry blossom-looking shrubs and those candles and lanterns? Top notch. I adore it. They fit amazingly with the pagoda look of the End cities, evoking motifs from ancient Japan. End-themed lighting blocks that complement End rods would be a godsend.
This game also seems to really like its enderman variations. That, I’m not opposed to! Just like how “zombie pigmen” got a lot more depth and diversity from the Nether update, endermen could definitely use some variants as well, giving clues to the lore and history of the End.
Finally, concepts for new items of Ender craft. I can’t believe I never thought of it before, but it makes perfect sense that the people of the End would make armor from shulker shells, even channeling a bit of their innate magic. It’s tough but must be light enough for wearing during elytra flight, and nearly impenetrable when pieced together correctly.
I’m happy to see that Ender bows and crossbows appear to be a thing, since I really love the concept of ranged combat on elytra. Circling high above the battlefield raining death from above, or striking an enemy in a flyby attack too quick for them to retaliate.
I see guardian vexes as bats and nothing will stop me
SNARELING - a species of Enderling with scythe-like final digits, and a goo-producing sac on their backs, which they use to spit sticky goo from a "mouth" on their torsos, that they use to trap enemies. This adaptation also makes them have green eyes.
Watchling - A many-eyed species of Enderling. They are shorter and more muscular than their enderman cousins. Some say each one has a unique eye pattern.
(mcd eyes, mcd eyes no glow, vanilla enderman eyes, vanilla enderman eyes no glow)
